loose skin and sagging breast

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm Ramona from SoCal,

My LB is set up for 2/29/08. My insurance denied me and getting other insurance required a waiting period of 6 months and possibly another 6 months of meeting with a nutritionist. I went through a service called Elective medical lending and was financed for the surgery. My question is since the weight loss is much slower than Gastric Bypass. Has anyone expierienced alot of loose skin and women sagging breast:thumbdown:

Hi Monakj

The saggy skin will depend on your DNA mostly and how overweight you are and how long you have been overweight - think of a trash bag with a tweny pound weight in it for a short time - when you take it out of the bag - the bag will spring back - then put 100 lbs of weight in that bag and leave it there for 10 yrs - when you take the weights out the bag will be saggy from where the weights were.

This whole thing about exercise, losing slowly is all a myth - exercise does not tighten your skin - it developes muscle - so if you get muscles as big as a weight lifter - then maybe your skin won't sag

But what's more important your saggy skin or your health - I have a few yrs on you - my body looks like crap naked - but guess what with clothes on I look just fine - I feel 10 yrs younger than i did 7 months ago and have cut my risk drasticly from having a heart attack or stroke.

Good Luck on your journey

P.S. - We have Plastic Surgeons it if really bugs you that much...

It depends on the person and the amount of weight needed to loose. I have been banded since 9/06 and I have lost 80+/- depending on the time of day. I recently set my surgery date for a Tummy Tuck, BL, BA, and Lipo for June 08. My belly is not a huge apron because I didn't have a huge amount to loose, but I lost a lot of volume in the breasts. I went from a D to a large B, small C.

My breasts sag now and I haven't even gotten a band yet.

My breasts were already sagging , before the band. But other than that I don`t look bad. I will wear a bikini this year I think. I use to hate my oily skin, now i know what a blessing it is. Donna

Indiogirl said it best. You'll have a healthier life and the option of plastic surgery so focus on the added years you're giving yourself and worry about the skin issues when/if you have to. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
