Question regarding lack of fullness

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.

This Friday it will be 2 weeks ago I had surgury. Doing fine except my concern is that I can drink my Water without sipping it, drink Soup ,& drink 2 Optifasts a day etc I'm not drinking the 64 ounces at once, but I don't feel any restriction. I'm paranoid I could be stretching my new pouch. How do I know I'm not?

It's virtually impossible--maybe even completely impossible--to stretch your pouch with liquids. At this point even the thickest liquids flow right through your wide-open stoma into the stomach below. Even when you get on to solid foods you may find that you can eat almost normally without feeling any special sense of fullness.

The band really doesn't work for the vast majority of people until there has been an adjustment to tighten it. You're not alone, and believe me, things will be different once you've had an adjustment or two.

It is very common not to feel any restriction until your first fill. I was starving all thru my liquids phase but mushies and solids actually made me feel full and restricted. I didn't end up needing a fill the first 6 months. You may feel more full when your on more solid food or you may need to wait for your first fill for that feeling. Best wishes, Teresa

I never had the sensation of "fullness" until my 4th fill.

I was amazed on how much I could still eat thinking I stretched out my pouch at 2 CC's and then when I had my 4th fill (6 months after surgery) that brought me to 2.5 CC's and now I feel restriction with everything I eat and sometimes drink.

Good Luck!

Cutz, I drink w/o sipping also. Sounds like you're doing great! Just keep working on getting in enough liquids each day.
