val, i guess they need a vein to put the iv in and the medication. mine keep blowing up. ya should see me i have dark black marks all over me they tried at least 9x's. four different people.

ok ladies had a very bad day today. very busy at the store, then while at his friends house my son and his friends decided to throw rocks and damaged the man a few doors down car. i was so angry with him i eat 2 damn Peanut Butter Cookies. i was doing so good. how ever i did walk it off. and got by a$$ back on track with dinner and didn't have a snack. any who my sons friend mom and i agreed to split the damage. so my son is angry with me as i'm have him work the money off that im about to pay out of pocket. and all his games are mine for a month. he's a game freak.

i thought about why i ate the 2 cookies and this is what i came up with. now that im calm the only thing i can say some thing was bothering me and i feel weak. not that im trying to make up excuses becuz im not. i f'ed up and let my emotions get the best of me. i was doing good.

i did jump right back on program as i could hear all ya saying get your a$$ back there. so i went to the park and walked then eat a steak and med. salad and no dessert. and 2 16.9oz of Water. im good now got my head back on straight. i decided to tell ya it was rough today.

China don't beat yourself up. Those of us waiting all have those moments. I bought a dress for a special event this Tuesday that meant I couldn't afford an extra oz of fat and since then I have snacked everyday (and hated myself for it). Those already banded don't need to verbally beat themselves up as their band tells them they did something wrong and the consequences are physical and immediate. Judy is correct, there should be more therapy involved in the program. I just got the magazine Obesity Help and there is an article on this very thing called Head Hunger. Anorexic or Obese everyone has it. We/You are human! Congratulations for getting right back on track.

Hey experienced bandsters - what is a good chewable Vitamin with Iron. I already take iron so I just bought Vital8 Gummy Multivitamins but I would like to eliminate the seperate iron pill. I take viactiv x2 a day and someone mentioned you are not to take the vitamin and Calcium at the same time. Is that right? There is so much to learn. I was surprised to see the 3 chewables contain a total of 55 calories! Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am trying to get ready.

Welcome to everyone new!! Yay, more peeps!!!

1) My shoulder is KILLING ME. I'm like, dying. Hopefully Dr. Hoffman's got some advice for me tomorrow. Anybody else who has been banded...did you have this? Do you still have this? OMGGGGG. I'm using my heat pack and at night I'm Lortabing it up.

2) The glue came out of one of my little incisions yesterday in the shower, and I freaked out and promptly put a bandaid over it. I wonder if that's okay...it still looks "open" and I'm freaking.

Who know that post-op would be so fun?

Bloom,I also had the shoulder pain really bad. It was the only thing that hurt after the surgery. Dont fear it will go away in about a week or two.

Yes the shoulder pain is bad. I pulled off the glue. I did not know it was supposed to stay on. I did not blow apart, LOL.

The shoulder pain lasts a few weeks. I did not stay on the lortab because I went back to work and did not want to drive while on it. I save it for special evenings now when I hurt and want to sleep.< /p>

I drove on day 3 to go to a funeral, did not have a problem but was tired after.

Blah, I hope it goes away soon. But I am glad it's not just me. I picked up the rest of my Lortab prescription this afternoon, the pharmacy only had enough for 5 doses and I finished the last dose last night. I'm not a fan of controlled substances, so I too use it for bad nights. I've got to work too, can you imagine going to work on Lortab? How would I even get there, lol!!! :cool2:

I'm kind of excited for my follow up appt. tomorrow, looking forward to seeing how much I've lost! Then maybe I'll make a ticker. About how much did y'all lose in the first week?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
