Dr. Aaron Hoffman - Lap Band done in Buffalo, NY (Dr. Hoffman)

Recommended Posts

So here I am, like vet said I am home, actually just walked in the door 7:30 pm. long drawn out day. I am very sore, but have to say for a 3 hour surgery its not as bad as the first one. no port and no gas pain. I am sick, have bronchitis, laryngitis, and sore throat due to asperating bloody acid from my stomach during the nights. they tested my coffee ground reflux and it was defenitely blood. I am very happy my band was able to be revised, because when I went in the o.r. he wasn't sure if it had to come out or not. I have to watch for fever in case there is a puncture in my stomach, although he doesnt think so, he even scoped me when I was under. Thanx for all the support from everyone, sure meant alot. and a special hoorah to Vet for holding my hand on the phone thoughout this process, I luv ya gurlfriend! will keep you all posted, on liquids till he says otherwise, maybe fri. got to get an appt for next week to see him.XXXXXXOOOOOO to all.

Oh believe me when I say I am in nooooo hurry at all and they did give me alot of Fluid, they were checking my lungs contantly for fluid overload, I was like a sponge, just hanging onto every drop and still sooo thirsty. I didn't realize what bad shape i was in till now that it is over and I feel normal again, it has been so long since i was normal i didn't realize how bad it was. for any newbies out there let me be your example of what you dont do.:(

Thanks Val...I just joined and it's a very nice site. I can't wait to get the pedometer.. I could use one of those! The last one I had, I lost the same day I bought it! Hmmm bad Karma :smile2: We'll see if this one lasts past a day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
