Does anyone chew gum? I know we are not suppossed to but I have some sliminess and would like to refresh my mouth.

Linda, what happens if you swallow it by mistake ?? It would probably be alright if you chew just for the flavor and spit it out after a couple of minutes but maybe some altoids would be better. I would hate to think if it getting stuck since you really can't digest it, could you ??

Bugs, you can go anywhere for bloodwork. They suggest Kalieda because it is easier for them to get the blood work. I had mine done at Quest Labs.

Betsy, maybe if you give the doctor the results of your oximetry study that will be enough. Take it to you first appointment or even ask at the support meeting. I think the sleep study tests are annoying!

Hi Linda,

I'm a gum chewer too and have to be very careful not to swallow it....one of the nurses said that gum will not digest. If it does'nt get passed the band, the surgeon would have to go in and get it.

hey all sorry i haven't posted in a while but i started school andit sux, i have no time anymore, but thats besides the point. I just had my sleep study done last night, it wasn't too bad. Betsy i think they only make you take the sleep study if you dont feel refreshed in the morning. if you find yourself tired throughout the day. like sleepy. i do. but thats when they usually ask you to get one done.

I cant wait for my first appointment. I wish i could have made the meeting tonight but i had to work until 6 im switiching my schedule a bit so i can start going to them

Hi all... It was a good meeting last night. It gave me a feeling that I am not alone on this goal of mine and it also gave me hope that I will someday achieve it.

China, could you tell me the website again that you use for the daily calorie counter ? I forgot it.

thanks,

shar

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
