Dr. Aaron Hoffman - Lap Band done in Buffalo, NY (Dr. Hoffman)

Recommended Posts

pineapple juice will also help dissolve Protein (I think this is in the paperwork that BGH gave us).

Bromelain (the enzyme in pineapple) can be used as well. I get in from the Vitamin Shoppe on Walden.

However, as a person that has had things stuck a few times, I was kind of afraid to drink during that time.

I would love to know if it works, if anyone tries it please let us know.

my friend had gastric bypass at sisters and it was a great experience for her. asa far as I know they do not do lap band there. the physician who used to do them left. Now that might have changed...not sure. Dr. Hoffmann banded me 9/22 and I know it is early but i feel pretty good!! It was 5 mos of jumping though hoops for them but well worth it. I had to have sllep studies done, before and after cpap, and all the other tests. the pain was managed well in the hospital and by the time i was discharged i was on tylenol gelcaps for management. Dr. hoffmann is great!! Highly recommend him!! (also he doesn't catheterize you and the other 2 docs do...)

I was losing 2 lbs a week, but I'm sure it's slowed down. July and Aug and most of Sept I could only eat small amounts and even had the "stuck" pain 2 times. It is only in the past 2 weeks or so that I don't have the full feeling. I am not overeating due to will power and the scare of that "stuck" pain. Dr. Hoffman is awesome. But I am so worried that I will screw up. Looking forward to my 10/7 visit and hopefully a fill.

PB'ing stands for productive burping - I believe it is the same as "throwing up" or sliming.

Bandofgold - Your friend lost 107 lbs since June!? Doesn't sound possible, Wow.

yes, she did lose 107 lbs she looks awsome, but she is a bit nervous but her docs tell her not to worry that she is fine. I would love to lose 107 lbs, but not in three months, i can't imagine. also remember she had bypass, not the band.

Czar, I here you,, I haven't lost anything in four weeks, this is the first time this has happened to me. I have not changed anything and I too am going on the 7th and hope a fill will jump start me again. when do these fills end, and whe do they only last a few weeks? I don't get it, I like you am just going on pure willpower and south beach phase 1. I thought we were suppose to eat normal, just less of it. I've lost this and more weight on diets. I want to be able to eat every thing, just less of it...

czar, I am trying to figure out what causes the pain. They tell us to chew small but it will stay in our upper stomach, but if we eat too big it goes through and causes pain? I would think the big pieces would stay up longer. Why would a big piece go through so fast? It would make sense if it sat in the upper stomach for a while and then hurt an hour later when it went through. So why does the big stuff go through (and then hurt) when the well chewed stuff stays in the upper stomach. Does not make anatomical sense to me!

Band, the fills end when you reach 10 ml or when you lose your weight, whichever comes first.

The difference now is that we have stopped loving food and love the band. I find that I am as obsessed about the band as I was about food. I am still losing, but it is never enough. Ugh.....

Remember this, we are not ugly, just fat, and we can diet. Ugly we would be stuck with. Does that make your day any brighter?

Hi, I just stumbled upon a website where a doctor talks about lapband. Only difference is he also has a band-for 8 years. In one of the short videos he talks about how satisfied he is and has no cravings until recently when he bacame very hungry and craved different foods. SO HE GOT A FILL. This is a lifetime process. I think it gets easier and fills are less frequent as you reach you sweet spot but they are always available to help.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
