Where'd y'all get your machines? How long did it take; like am I not going to be able to get it in time?

I'd like to have it *just in case* but if I can't then I'll be chatting with you, LLL!

I got mine on Broadway in Cheektowaga 683-6699. I have Independent Health and it was 50/50 split. I pay $40.00 a month for like 1 year I believe. I still have three months to go for payment. Once they had my scrip from my doctor for my air levels it was fast I believe.

Bloom try calling them and ask about how fast they can get yours to you. Explain your having the surgery and see if they can have you one by Friday. 683-6699. Let me know..... I'll still meet ya for my case anytime!!

Dear bloom, Sorry, put my foot in my mouth along with all that food as usual (about the childbearing stuff) anyway I was in a crazy mood yesterday and hope you know no concerns are trivial, cause we all worry about different things. the nail polish thing is for the pulse ox they put on your finger to register how much oxygen you have in your blood, and also to check blood return when they press on your nail and it turns white and then back to pink again. but hey!!!, your on your way to thin and it is so exciting and I'm with you all the way. you 36_1_67.gif are going to do great. try to worry about your clothing allowance, cause your going to have to buy all new stuff. isn't that terrible, ha ha...talk to you guys later, and by the way whoever was asking about c-pap, I have been on it for about 1 1/2 yrs and i use it everynight, it was better than waking up gasping for air, and i got it at apnea care, there is one in west seneca and amherst...good luck

p.s. If they know you have apnea they told me if i didn't bring my machine, they would cancell my surgery. so I took it....

Thank you! thank you! thank you! LLL I'm not getting much support here at home with the other half, so I appriciate your support very much... Dr. H contributes it to the pool, I go the Greenfield nursing home on Broadway in Alden for Aquatic therapy and it seems to be helping alot, even with the knee and back pain. I go two times a week. you also are doing awsome and I hope this doesn't slow down anytime soon, but if it does, it does, as long as it doesn' go up!!

Hi all!

Saw Dr. Hoffman today and I am scheduled for surgery Oct 6th! So now I have gone from "I can't wait til surgery is scheduled" to "OMG am I doing the right thing? isn' that too soon...maybe I should wait..."

DH is laughing at me...says I'm a nut case and everything will be fine! Don't know what I would do without him!

Linda, what machine are you talking about getting in time? I thought you had your CPAP. I am confused!!!

See you Saturday?

Let us know how you make out Bloom, but certainly we can get you one for show. If you have sleep apnea you should get a machine, you are at high risk of stroke if you do not use your machine.

However, if you do not have one yet, how can they expect you to bring it? If you were diagnosed recently?

I am so excited for you.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
