Dr. Aaron Hoffman - Lap Band done in Buffalo, NY (Dr. Hoffman)

Recommended Posts

Bloom, were you writing out a check when a redhead came in to register? That was me. I to was at the center this morning. I was given a date of September 22nd which is not good for me so I have a tenative date of October 13th. Seems so far away. Dr. Hoffman says they have had an explosion of applications in the last month (like over 500!) We are on our way!

Judy--I've been trying to get to the park forever!!! It's just so early for me, I'd have to leave my house at 7:30. So I might arrange to meet all of you afterwards or something. I live in the city of Lockport...I've missed all of the concerts because I've been working at summer camp.

Linda--that wasn't me, I always ask them to bill me, it saves time. :cool2: But I was there wearing a green shirt and striped capris...I was there with my sister who was in red. I knew someone was going to be there from here today and I couldn't remember! Dr. Hoffman told me about the application explosion as well, and said it's going to be even more difficult with Dr. Forbes leaving. I wonder if they will replace her...and I wonder where she's going!

How is everyone, haven't been able to write anything significant for a while. I took my other half to the Hoff yesterday to have a cyst removed, he told me to come tuesday at noon and he will give me my second fill, I hope it makes a difference since I can eat just about as much as I ever did, but I am following Phase1 of south beach so tha is what is giving me the slight wt. loss. It is getting increasingly more difficult to stop myself from overeating, so I hope this works. How is everone else doing, I coudn't make the support group yesterday cause i had to take care of my other. Did anyone go and if so how was it and how many people showed. was the Hoff there and what was it like? I hope to get to the next one, start Water therapy on Tues. Also, maybe that will make a difference inthe wt. loss too.

Hi Vic-good to hear from you. I am doing pretty well, tonight I ate a little more then usual, and then some ice cream (at a party). I am so afraid this will be the start of the downfall, but usually I do pretty well. I have lost 15 and headed toward 16 (until tonight that is!!).

Seminar was good, I think we scared off a few potentials with our complaints! We discussed exercise for a while and then everyone had a chance to talk. Dr. Hoffman did not come. I am thinking that a doctor should come once in a while as there are many questions that the others cant answer.

Take care.

Bloom, we come around the juicery again at about 8:45, perhaps you could make the second circle with us? When fall comes perhaps they will make it later, not sure. Would love to meet you. Your surgery is almost here-that is so cool! I did go to REO speedwagon.

Where about in Lockport do you live? You dont have to give an address here. I know Lincoln, Davison (go to Dr. Rifkin), Main Street, Transit Rd. I might have told you I am dying to go to Jane and Co. in Lockport.

Talk to you soon.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
