I did see a group of four start walking from where the stand says custard, bnut did not know if it was you guys or not. I would love to walk next week. Please let me know where the juicery is. Thanks Debbie Maj

Debbie I am sorry you missed us. It is no longer the juicery but I found it because I was told to drive as far as the baracades. I think it says Custard and LaNova pizza on it. Please try again next week.

Judy, I am starting to fall into the overeating habits too. Youre right it is hard. I have some books that help address that. As everyone tells us the band is a tool. We need to be able to change our heads too. I am counting on the unpleasant side effects of overeating or eating the wrong things to help me break the habit but I also am strongly considering going back to counseling with someone who specializes in food issues. No one can say we are taking the easy way out!

28_2_7v.gif Dear Linda, you got that right, i was banded 7 weeks ago, and i feel like i could still eat like i did before the surg. It is not an easy fix, and i hope i get better at it cause there are days, when i want to fall of the wagon and have a banana split. ohhhhhhhhhh!

Big gurl, you are going to the psych a second time? He did not have me come back, perhaps he saw right away that I was crazy!!!

Let me know what happens the second time.

He was a tough interview, but honest and fair. I may go back to him if I still need eating counseling, which I might.

I am 10 days post op, have lost 12 pounds, have choked 4 times, went back to work 6 days post op and am doing fine. This is my first trip out of town, so not sure how the restaurant thing will go, but I feel confident. I ate almonds today which Hoffman said I could do, and they went down surprisingly well. Am still sticking to pretty soft stuff though.

Take care everyone!

they are usually the first Wednesday of the Month, so if you have not heard then there is not one in August. Dr. Hoffman is off for most of August and Dr. Forbes is leaving, so they will probably not have seminar at least until September when they would have Drs. available to give the seminar.

Are you calling 859-1168? I would think they would have to answer since that is the number we would call in an emergency.

I sent my application in February and did not get to a seminar until May.

BandofGold, I asked Jeanne, the nutritionist the same thing. I told her I wasn't get enough liquid. She basicly said to drink all the other times of the day. So my whole day is drink, pee, eat, drink pea, eat.

1 cup an hour for 8 hours is 64 oz, seems doable, however, I am lucky if I get half of that in. I have 8 hours to drink, I just dont have 8 hours to pee.

Actually, as I am telling you 1 cup per hour, it does not seem too bad, maybe I will try that. I have two cups of coffee, that only leaves six more to go. Doesnt sound too bad when you put it that way, right? I have never been a Water drinker unfortunately. But I am trying! Have you tried eating popsicles or something?

I finally faxed all my paperwork to Dr Hoffman's office. How long is the wait before I hear anything?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
