Dr. Aaron Hoffman - Lap Band done in Buffalo, NY (Dr. Hoffman)

Recommended Posts

Hello I sent all my paper work in June3rd, and have not heard anything! Is this normal. How long before I should call and ask if they received my paper work. I was hoping to be asked to the July seminar. any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Debbie

It is normal, the process is that slow. I called for paperwork in early February and I think I received it mid-March. Went to a May seminar. Call, fax and mail!! Hang in there.

Hello bugsbuni70, I sent in my initial application 6/19 but called on tuesday 6/24 and was told they recieved it. I would def. recomend calling them to follow up. I was also told by Marietta they didnt have the next seminar date scheduled yet but I think I'm going to try calling early next week to see if its been set up yet. Good luck with everything.

Liquids for 7 days, post op doc visit. Then they put you on Pureed/strained foods. Right now I would love anything solid.

Judy the pain in shoulder and neck occassionaly bothers people after anesthesia. I was told it is the "gas" leaving the body. I didn't have that pain, but my husband did. Not intolerable, he says its just achy. In fact my husband and I did not fill the pain meds prescription, and just took tylenol, which was ok with Dr. Hoffman.

Rain and Brubear, Congratulations. Keep us informed so we know what to expect. I am out of town and so happy to be able to keep in touch by the website. Someone mentioned Dr. Hoffman being out of town part of the summer....for 2 weeks in August he will be involved with his Boards. I have an appointment with him for a colonoscopy on July 10th and my surgery apointment on August 19th. I am so happy I have him for my doctor even if I havn't met him yet.

Can anyone tell me how to put the ticker on the bottom of your web page?

Linda, did they give you an idea of when your surgery will be? Sounds like you have almost everything done. You did so well on the weight loss, I have not done so well. Based on the success for Loraine, Nicki and Val, I am hoping the surgery will give me that extra push. Most of the people at the support group did really well too.

How did you feel about South Beach (if that is what you did)? It seems pretty good. I have not had much trouble staying away from the big sins, Cookies, bread, Desserts, Pasta. A few slips but overall I was better then I expected. Just wish I had a little better result.

Enjoy your time with your family.

Judy, I have an appoinment with Dr. Hoffman on August 19th. The NP said it is usually 6 weeks later for surgery. I have a huge PR event on the 23rd of September for which a lot of my family will be in town and I do not want anything to interfere with my mind or body before that so I can't do anything before October or the very end of September anyway. I will tell my family about the surgery then also. (No use worrying the parents till its a done deal - they actually pointed out the article to me because it is said to cure diabetes)

I wasn't fond of phase 1 but 2 was good. I am never hungry! To be honest, not being able to loose anymore told my heart - eat something you are not allowed. But my brain wont let me! I bought a bag of popcorn Thursday and it is still sitting here unopened. Plus I am always so full. When I get back I have a lot of results to dig up from different doctors plus check if my test results and psych report which have been sent a second time were received. I swear they loose more stuff in that office!

I was thinking of the Delaware Park walkers this morning as I was hiking the mountains of NC while my granddaughter was cross country running. Longing for flat land!

Linda, I think you are a very strong woman, I can learn a lot from you. It looked rainy but Nicki and I did walk today. Hopefully you will walk with us soon. We are about the same age, I am 56, so I am happy to meet someone in my age group who is doing this.

Take care, enjoy your vacation.

Judy it is good to see someone in this age group. Thank you for your compliment. I guess I am strong in many ways but weak when it comes to will power and foods control over me. I have been told by naysayers that you can gain weight on Lapband by eating to many times a day and I admit I am afraid of that. In fact I haven't told anyone I didn't need to about the surgery just in case I am not successful. I would feel so ashamed.

YOU are doing something about it, don't feel ashamed if it does not work quickly. Honestly, everyone I met has some level of success. Again, we are similar, my BMI is 39, so our weight losses will be smaller and we can't measure ourselves against that.

But guess what, OMG, I FINALLY LOST SOME WEIGHT ON SB. Just about 5 pounds, but I dont really care as my insurance does not require weight loss. I just did not want to disappoint Dr. Hoffman when I see him, also, I really did eat minimal carbs so I thought I should lose. I am so psyched, I am so glad I checked today. Two more days and then I get my surgery date!

Take care!

Hi Val, Nicki and I walked. It actually did not rain in the park while we were there at least, but yes, you deserved your birthday off!

As long as I lost 3 pounds or so by Tuesday I am happy! I will stay off the carbs then because the surgery will be in July sometime.

Yes, I will go to the support group next month, July 16 I think. Hoffman may be doing the group. I am working in Erie that day, but will come to the group when I get back to Buffalo, which should be in plenty of time.

Happy Birthday!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
