Judy thank you for your encouragement. I am also starting to get excited and nervous, like Rain. I am so tired of jumping through the hoops, which I know are there for a reason. I just want to lose at my pace and not worry about the weigh ins.

No, they were not old posts, as far as I understand it you have to maintain the weight loss until surgery, and the week before surgery is Phase 1 again. If you lose the 5% and maintain it until surgery that should be ok, as long as you dont gain it before surgery.

I am confused as to who wants the 5% insurance or Kaleida. Will you ask that at your meeting and let us know? It is not easy to get an answer to that question.

Judy If I could maintain or keep losing weight I wouldn't need the surgery. I am scared and wonder if I should gain some weight back before Tuesday. I lost more than 10%! I will be sure to ask about who requires the weight loss.

Linda--if you look to the top left of the posts, above our names, it will give you the date and time of the post. :cursing:

I think most insurances want 5%. I'm losing 50 lbs. because I'm one of the heavier lap banders and they want my BMI down. That's okay with me, a loss is a loss, and these losses will be STAYING OFF for the first time ever!

I really thought I was bored on Phase 1 and I'm still afraid of Phase 2, but guess what....

In ONE MONTH with all of my off the wagon and no exercising, I've lost 28 lbs.!!! Sign me up for the South Beach for the rest of my life, man! Jeanne told me only 9 lbs. of that was Water weight so AWESOME!

Thanks y'all for your support, this place really helps me make sure I'm on par with everyone else, and that we're really all going through the same junk!

Bloom -Duh do I feel dumb. I found the date and time on my next post. Congratulations on your success. I don't love SB but it is really working on me also and controlling my diabetes wonderfully. When I was diagnosed my sister bought me the SB cookbooks so I already had them on hand. Didn't care for the Spinich Quiche cups in Phase 1 but I made the sausage eggs one this morning and they were good plus I have Breakfast already made for five more mornings. I am thinking of making them when I go babysit my grandkids for 10 days next week.

I too have been successful on Phase 1 losing 17 lbs which is more than my 5%. Since Phase 2 I have lost 3 more. BUT I am a wreck that when I get weighed on Tuesday I will have to maintain that till surgery which could be months away! Makes we wish I had not been so successful. I bought the SB Supercharged book also and yesterday I bought the SB exercise CD. I have and love the Leslie Sansone tapes but I can't do them becuase some of the walking movements hurt my feet.

The main problem with this forum - I am suppossed to be working and I am on here! The auditor is due in 15 minutes and I still can't still my desk! But at least I'm the boss and work at home or live at work however you want to word it so I'm only in trouble with me! :rolleyes2: I love reading and learning from all these post.

Bloomerific, that is so cool!!! I am so happy for you, you must feel so great right now.

I do not know if I lost anything yet, my scale is not moving too fast. I see Hoffman in July and hope to set a surgery date at that time.

Has anyone else scored high the urinary cortisol test? I did, and had to go for a special test, should know on Monday. Hope it will not hold back the surgery.

A few of us will be at Delaware Park at 8 am if anyone wants to come.

Again, way to go Bloom.

I am so glad I stumled on this website. I just started this process and sent my application into BGH yesterday. My sister and I are hoping to be able to do this together. My pcp is totally onboard with it and has helped me out a lot so far.

So much great info so far and this has really helped me figure out what I need to get done to move this process along faster! Who knows I may even start the Saturday morning walks if nobody minds me bringing a stroller.

Looking forward to the next challenge...

I surely dont mind a stroller, and if you have a baby in it, even better!

just curious after you go to the seminar, do you have to see a dietician, specifically one from BGH or can you see any dietician...or...can you just be doing a medically supervised diet from your pcp?

And if I mailed in my app. last week do u think its ok for me to call the office & just verify it it was recieved and being reviewed...and is it ok to ask to get myself scheduled for one of these seminars. I had gotten the impression they had to approve you to even be able to go to the seminar. (fyi my bmi is 50 and have at least 2 maybe 3 comorbidities or whatever thats called, so hopefully wont have too much of a problem getting in).

Thanks for your help just really nervous about the whole process and the waiting..

Daniellabee...DEFINITELY DEFINITELY call. I didn't call, and when I decided to call it was almost a month later and they'd never received my application. Call until you get someone. Though there is a better number to call than what they give you. Someone has to have it...anyone?

You have to see Jeanne Lew, the dietician that is part of the Weight Loss Clinic. Honestly, even though it's another hoop to jump through, they want to watch you the whole way through this process. She's really really nice and encouraging.

Not to be cliche, but the waiting truly is the hardest part. It drives me NUTS.

Daniellabee, I agree call to make sure they got everything and photocopy everything you give them. I believe you have to be invited to attend a seminar. Once they accept you into the program you will be invited to a seminar and then the process begins. Personally I sent my application on March 12, was invited to the May seminar and my first appointment which is 3 hours long and includes a meeting with the nurse practioner, nutritionist and physical therapist is tomorrow. I have a BMI of 40 with co morbiditys and was accepted. Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
