I never thought I would like the ricotta cheese thing until I did it...now I'm like, addicted. It's like the inside of a cannoli or something. I mean, I know that's marscapone but still!!! I'm big on almond flavoring. Mmm.

Bru--I'm glad your husband's out and feeling okay!!! Yay!!

Judy--I think I'm eating too much as well, I have a feeling that things aren't going to go well at the dietician check-up. I've had a few off the wagon days but for the most part I've been good. Outside of ONE day, no bread-no potatoes-no rice. I've stuck with phase 1, I think maybe I should go to phase 2 to see how I do. I dunno. It's all so frustrating.

Bloom, let me know how you do at the weigh in, if you do not do well I will go back on nutrisystem or something like that. I do not feel like anything is coming off. I am only at 1.5 weeks though. I do need more exercise.

Hi Everyone, sounds like everyone is doing AWESOME! I like the ricotta recipe, i'm going to try it.

Loraine, team captain, you are back!!!!

I just mixed the ricotta with a sugar free pudding mix of chocolate and put in chopped almonds. Almost like a canoli filling. It is good.

I also make the sugarfree Jello, dry, with cottage cheese and SoBe approved Cool whip. Great!!!

I have a feeling though that at the end of this month I will never eat cottage cheese or ricotta again though!

Val, I am registered for the Breast cancer walk on Saturday too. Do you think we can do the 3.5 miles with Hoffman and then another 3.5 miles for the walk?

I will plan on meeting you at 8 at the Juicery unless I hear otherwise from you. Depending on who comes perhaps we should Walk over to the Rose Garden and Casino as our 8 am walk, then we would not have to move our cars? I am game for whatever you want to do. Christa will be at the walk (Komen) as well.

Anyone else want to join us at the Susan Komen walk?

Hey guys, I need some input. I am kind of getting cold feet, probably just nervous but, can you guys tell me how this has changed your life. Not just because you look better and everyone tells you that you look good, that is a real bonus of course, but what else have you gotten from it or what do you expect from it. How will it change your life?

I will probably go to the support meeting next week with Nicki and Loraine and will ask the same question.

I am bummed out and went for Indian food tonight. My first real carbs in two weeks. I think I will get back on the wagon tomorrow though.

I nervous about this too. After I filled out the weight loss history portion of the application I worry the doctor will think I didn't try long enough on each diet plan which was about six to seven months . But I'm also worried that I will have problems after and will it really help my issues. My biggest problem I have right now is trying to figure out if it will make my back feel better enough I can excerise more often than I can right now.

Thank for letting me get this out. I would appreciate any advice .

Bugs, at the seminar they will discuss the impact of the band on back pain. But think about it, whatever hangs out in front pulls on your back. I have back pain today more than usual. I do exercise a lot and it helps. I go to a class called Jazzercise a few times a week. If you or anyone is interested let me know. You can always go to a first class for free. There are ladies of every size and age. Currently classes are held at Transit and Clinton as well as Ridge and Abbott.

How long you have been on diets previously seems to differ by insurance. Even if you have to go on a diet for your insurance, the whole process takes 4-5 months anyway so you have time to try again.

Have a good day.

Judy .Because the back injury is permament thats one of the reasons why I don't exercise. But ok then so maybe they will think I'm a candidate. thanks for listening and the advice.

Hi Judy! I was reading your blog about having cold feet! I am sooooo excited about this surgery. I'm not in it to make me look better, I'm in it to FEEL better. I'm only 43 and have had diabetes for about 4 years, along with that I have high blood pressure and high cholestrol. I look at this as a new lease on life. I can't wait to feel like i'm 20 again. My dad has been a diabetic for about 40 years and last year was started

on dialysis, for his kidney failure, which is a complication of diabetes. So its ok to be a little nervous but look at the out come. A healthier YOU

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
