OK, Val, I'm confused... I thought you had the sleeve?

Hope your post op went well, mine did. Lot of waiting but got out about 10:30. I was surprised to learn that I already got my first fill during surgery!!! No wonder I'm not hungry. I can eat pureed foods and my daughter-in-law came over with her concoction... pineapple, papaya, strawberries, bananas, tufu... all whipped up in her fruit thingie... it was very good. I ate some whipped tuna for lunch... added a bit of onion Soup for flavor and it wasn't 1/2 bad.

Baby steps.... just waiting for things to cool off so I can walk my mile.

Yikes... how scary. I wonder how often that happens. Glad you are all set now. Maybe you'll be even better with the sleeve.

That would be yummy on a hot like this. I like to use frozen fruit when I make my smoothies.. it tastes like a real milkshake.

Enjoy that not-hungry feeling while you have it!

vicki, so far so good. when i came home from the hospital i was up about 6 lbs, which i expected but now i lost that plus an additional few lbs. i think if we have the picnic after labor day we will have a better turnout. the summer is so crazy

After labor day would probably work best and it'll give you more time to heal.

Hey guys I'm back - Was out on vacation and doing all the stuff for my son's high school graduation & Party.

Well I had to have an emergency complete unfill Friday June 25th the morning of my son's graduation - I was told I have a prolapsed band - I was really in great pain the morning I woke up on June 25th. It was right in the middle of my breat bone right at the top of where my band ring starts - it to me felt like labor pains I would breath and get a sharp slow releasing pain, after a minute or two start all over again with no releaf until I was unfilled. Kim was a sweetheart in the office - I called and they took me as soon as I walked in the door. I'm still having some pain and other complications I go in Tue. for more testing etc..... So here we go the start of my troubles now. I was filled two weeks before this happened to return just two hours later for an unfill - yet I was told I must have been over filled and it caused by prolapsed situation.

Val- Help!!what should I expect and what was your signs and others pains when you had this happen to you?

Hi Big! Surg. date 6/28 and I am just now getting a bit hungry. Wednesday I had my first cream of wheat and I'm still using the same envelope. Probably finish it tomorrow. I wish this would last forever. Start 236 Today 220. Slow is best.

Hi LIveLove! OMG! Who fills the bands? How can they fill them too much? They should be trained to do it just right... now I'm nervous...

I hope you can keep the band and just not get another bad fill. You poor thing! HUGS!

Protein Bar Recipe

Preheat oven to 350

4 egg whites 1/4 cp. of P. Butter crunchy 3 scoops of vanilla Protein Powder 1/2 cp. splenda or 8 pks. of trivia 2 cp. of oats 1/2 cp. of flax seed meal (if you like) mix well and put onto cookie sheet lined with parchment paper so it won't stick. Bake 20-25 min. Let it sit for 30 min.

Cut into 10 slices (I’m going to drizzle a little dark semi-sweet chocolate lightly over them)

145 cal, 13 carbs, 5g sugar, and 10g protein

Looks like a good recipe..thought I'd share it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
