Rain, I do like cheese, but since it is a staple, I want my Snacks to be something else, something crunchy I guess. I have not tried the greek yogurt and splenda, I have also heard riccota and splenda, It doent sound appealing to me but I love cannolis ha ha... I will definitly try it, maybe i am just going thru withrawl from chips and pretzels. I don't know, but i do want something to crunch besides raw veggies. does anyone else get sick of the same old, same old or is it me??????:crying:

how nice you guys have such support, I can't find anyone in Albany. I met a girl who was banded the same time as me and we have remained friends, but her band didn't work and she had the RNY in January - so I lost the only local girl who could relate to in person.

I feel like I'm the only one in the area. I have a great group on this site, we actually have get togethers once a year, but we are all over the states.

Vicki - have you every fried cheese sticks or any kind of cheese? I found it here somewhere a couple years ago, put cheese in non-stick fry pan and let it met and get golden brown, when you turn it off and let it cool an put on a plate, it gets crunchy.

I live for cheese

Any time.

It is so simple which makes it even better.

I just got a big fill for me, I'm up to 1.5cc and have been on liquids for 4 days, I have been doing lots of research and pulled out my journal from the beginning to get myself back on track, so I'm finding all kinds of good things I use to live on, that I lost track of over time.

So if anyone needs any good ideas, just shout!

Vicki

I just got that big fill (for me anyway) and have been on liquids for 5 days now and down lbs. I am trying to get back to the reality of post surgery, so I'm going to hold out on Clear Liquids, but might add some Protein Shakes tomorrow, then the mushie stage as long as possible, i got "reminder" papers from the Dr. on Thursday.

Today I got a list of high Protein foods based on serving size. just what i needed! I Can try to scan and send any of this information anyone would like.

In a nutshell here is my reality check for the day.

Most importantly, no more onion rings... LOL

Go back to using low fat sour cream to mix with food (tuna, chicken salad, and stuff)

No more real butter, go back to using the bumble brown yogurt butter

No more store bought Salad Dressing (Ranch is my favorite to make any food go down) Low fat sour cream with a packet of ranch dressing mix

Protein first

vegies second

then Carbs and very limited

Staples I always use to eat

refried Beans

ricotta cheese ( I would make it like i was going to stuff shells, loaded with protein)

homemade sauce made with hot turkey sausage

Buritos, check the lables, they are high in protein and about 250-300 cal, add low fat cheese and you have 16-20 gprotein

I always have tuna - the 3oz size in my house

I hope that helps, it has really put things in perspective for me and I'm ready to go!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
