I have an active job. I am concerned about energy levels.

Recommended Posts

I run a business. My work day is 40% sedentary, 30% manual and 30% driving.

I have managed on 1500 cals per day before and lost weight easily. I was banded on 12th Feb and when back to normal I intend to have between 1000 and 1200 per day. At the moment (3 days in) I have no hunger at all but feel weak and sometimes dizzy. I know that I won't be able to do my job if I am like this. I am currently on 800 per day.

Feedback please.

You were just banded - you aren't going to be 100% right away - you are still healing - I would say that I had my energy back in about a week maybe two (i'm 7 months out so it's hard to remember that far back)

Make sure you eat - get all your Water and take Vitamins. I don't think you are suppose to be lifing for a while (exact time i don't remember but your doc should have told you)

I have a desk job and was back to work day 6 - and did fine.

Give yourself time to heal - call your doc if you aren't getting better in a few days..

Thanks, I feel better every day and will be back at work mid-next week I think, I was just worried about the long term energy thing. What is 'lifing' ?

Graham.

I also think that your weakness might be partly because of the effects of surgery. I couldn't have gone back to work so soon, since I was still needing a daily nap by day four or five. So, hopefully you can really, really rest during this three day weekend (that I hope you have off).

Also, it makes sense that you're going to feel weak when you cut your typical caloric intake by half AND you're recovering from surgery. Try to take in a little more calories because it's so important for you to heal correctly. Think about how tough it is for your body to heal properly if it thinks it's in starvation mode. That being said, I know it's difficult to get in a lot of food early on, especially if you're on mostly liquids. Therefore, I would suggest taking in more Protein and making sure that you're well hydrated and that you are replenishing electrolytes. Gatorade isn't hugely popular it seems, but it really helped me with staying hydrated. I never felt dizzy or "out of it," which are common symptoms of dehydration.

Take care of yourself! The last thing you need are complications!

Thanks, I didn't realise the 'dizzy out of it' feelings were possibly dehydration. I will watch that.

Graham.

You will be fine after a week or two.

I travel extensively for business and I have never felt better in my life. I am not weighed down by big meals and carb fests so I actually make it thru the day with no 3pm "blues"....

That being said, I now sleep like a LOG - once I am in bed, no more tossing around or late night eating.

I love my band!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
