Anyone with a band and a Kidney transplant?

Recommended Posts

I'm still in the evaluation stages of getting lap band, so far, everyone has said I'm a good candidate. One thing that I'm not sure about is having to take all of my meds as liquid or chewable. I have a kidney transplant (8/04) and take a handful of meds morning and night. I'm not even sure if they have liquid forms of my transplant meds. Anyone else out there with a transplant?

Jill

I have kidney problems (fsgs). I hope you can get the band soon. The chronic tiredness and Doctors appointments are hard on the BP. If you are lighter your health problems seem to go away.

I don't have a kidney transplant but I do take a lot of meds. I just break them up and take one every 15 min or so. At night it's easier because I'm not restricted much at night.

I'm not a transplant patient but I do care for them in the hospital (I'm an RN). pills that are not enteric coated or time released can be crushed but most patients are able to swallow them one at a time. It helps to take the pills with a hot beverage as it assists in breaking them down and flushing them through the pouch. Good luck!
