the best me 6 Posted March 2, 2005 Carbonation is definately not recommended, do a search on drinking and alcohol and heck, beer, and see what comes up. Anything that goes through your band quickly and easily and has empty calories is not good for weight loss. I'm not banded yet but I'm sure a occasional beer wouldn't hurt your band, but I think maybe the carbonation is the problem with beer. Good luck! Do lots of info searching here, you'll find anything and everything...this is mostly a good thing though! Ha!
lapbander081004 7 Posted March 2, 2005 Copper, I was a beer drinker before banding. Dr recommended no beer or any carbonate products...but did say if I could handle the occasional beer it was fine. So I flew all the way to Vegas sat at a video Poker machjine and after pushing $40.00 thu=ru I got that free beer. After half a bottle that was it. Way to uncomfortable in stomach. So the beer which actually worked out costing me $574.00 didn't tase good anymore.
Iluvharleys 15 Posted March 2, 2005 I've been tempted to try one, but haven't. Maybe it all should cost that much, then we wouldn't even want one!
TrishS 3 Posted March 2, 2005 I drink beer now.. but Im actually planning on quitting here pretty soon lol before I get banded, because after im banded I wont touch it!!
I'llsucceed 1 Posted March 2, 2005 I just bumped my thread for you under food- called" can u feel the love" it was also on this carbonation subject,,,check it out.
vinesqueen 2 Posted March 2, 2005 Also, I think it depends on what you consider beer. Lagers, beers like Bud or Miller, have more fizz than ales. Something like a good stout or a porter is less carbonated than what your average American considers beer. I don't think I'll have much trouble with even something as light as an IPA. Of course, that is as light as I'll go. Of course, Stouts and Porters might be considered a "thick"
paula 4 Posted March 2, 2005 Hi Copper. I too, was a beer drinker (pre-banding). Just like Greg said, too much discomfort. Every now and then I will take a sip of hubby's... unfortunately I could never handle the carbonation.
