ever had regret

Recommended Posts

I regretted it the day after surgery. I was recovering at home and watching the biggest loser. all I could think about was how I cheated and had surgery because I didnt even try to really do it on my own.

well that thought quickly changed. it is NOT an easy way out. lots of work goes into the band. from day 3 I haven't regretted my decision.

good luck!

I've been banded since March 2005. I've answered this question numerous times and everytime I said I didn't regret it a bit.

Well, three years out and one slip later lol...

There have been brief moments when I've regretted it. My journey has been a real roller coaster ride now. I was 4kgs away from goal when my band slipped and I've managed to gain nearly all of the weight back. I'm now working on taking it back off. But even now, my regrets are only brief and are mostly due to the fact that I tasted success, ever so briefly, and I want it back.

I would do it again in a heartbeat though!

One of the biggest causes they think, was being filled too tight, for too long. Finding the optimum fill level is something we all want. Some unfortunately, like myself, think that tighter is better.

In some cases, a simple unfill of the band for a few weeks can give it time to reposition itself again. That didn't happen for me, so I had to be re-banded.

Re-banding is much easier though than the first time around, as they don't generally have to replace the port and can usually just go in through the old incision scars.

But slippage isn't common and isn't something to spend time worrying about

ive been banded for just over 16 months and have not regretted it once.

my only regrets:

- not doing it sooner

- being a tad overfilled which caused some heartburn

- eating too quickly that caused a PB...

but getting my band, no way.

NEVER -NEVER -NEVER!

I love this band. I am losing slowly compared to some others, but 4 months out and over 30 pounds down is great for me. I have never had a PB or any other band related issue.

I only regret not doing it sooner. I also regret that I did not combine this effort with some therapy up-front as I was a self-payer. I was not mentally prepared for the complete removal of my ability to use food as comfort. Like some have said - there are times that a bowl of Pasta or pizza or whatever, seem to be the best solution to the problems of the day, but I have had to white-knuckle through those times and just focus on the success.

I was banded July 07 - have lost 55 lbs and have about 40 to go.

I regret being banded when I want to sit down and eat pounds of steamed shrimp. That is the only time I have been angry!! LOL

I have been banded 4 days and am excited and happy with the weight loss so far. Including pre-op diet 21lbs to this morning. I already have loose clothing, how could I have any regrets.

I have had pain, gas, and spent a lot of money, I don't regret any of it.

Never regreted ANYTHING for one nano-second! Everything I have been through has been totally worth it. I made this commitment and I am thrilled to be given the chance to do it. I've been given a new life and I will never, I repeat NEVER let myself get out of control like that again.

Can't say I've ever regretted it. I've had my cranky moments....usually hunched over the toilet, kicking myself for eating bread or pasta....but I know that this was one of the smartest choices I've ever made. I've lost 124 pounds so far. Now I can play with my son, and I've gotten my life back. No regrets at all.

I was seeing a therapist for the compulsive overeating, she was good & I learned much about myself, but the scale didn't budge, I stopped seeing her when I decided on the band. My husband talked me in to seeing her again before I get banded in two weeks. When I saw her again, I realized how important therapy will be once I'm banded. I can't turn to food anymore to fill whatever need went unmet, or numb the stress for the moment. It's a multifaceted approach to weight loss...it's not just the miracle band doing all the work.

I wont lie and say its been all roses- I've had lots of What the hell have I done to myself moments- Its NOT easy- but nothing worth having ever is- its a big commitment and a life change- I think maybe I went into this knowing that, but thinking somehow despite all of what I'd heard or read, it really wasn't going to be all that bad...don't kid yourself- It was and still is a LEARNING PROCESS for me- but it is very doable- you didn't get fat in a month or two and you won't be getting skinny in a short time either- its a long and steady journey but in the end I KNOW it is going to be worth it!

Ever since I've recovered from surgery I haven't had any regrets. My biggest regrets truly stemmed from the recovery stage of the process and the food limitations. Now that I'm eating again normally (for the most part) I'm in a much better place. I've lost almost 20lbs since surgery. I'm thrilled with that.

Saw my PCP & officially started my 6 month supervised diet 07/26/24. She just told me to eat less carbs & sugar, use the air fryer and not fry my foods in grease, and to try to walk 30 minutes 3 days a week & if I can't do that (and I cannot), to walk 10 minutes daily. Told me to walk fast enough that my heart rate is raised.  She didn't give me a number as far as calories though. A year or so ago I was doing low carb/sugar free and keeping my calories at 1800 or below. She said I should up my cals to 2000 at that time, so that's what I'm shooting for now.
Hubby walked with me today. He's in pretty bad shape so I was surprised he wanted to. We walked down the gravel road at a pretty good pace (for us LOL). 10 minutes walking and my heart rate was 115bps according to my Fitbit and 125bps according to his pulsometer. Either way, it was elevated and I was breathing hard. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a start. We'll do it again tomorrow. 😁
I should be hearing from the surgeon soon. She said if I didn't, to call him next week. Since I HAVE to do the 6 month diet & that's going to put me into January by the time it's done, I'm hoping the surgeon will let me do all my testing in January. I don't want to do it all now and have my deductible get met, only to have to pay the deductible again in January or February for my surgery. Praying that things go the way I hope. 🙏

Health Consciousness: The increasing awareness among individuals about the health issues linked to high sugar consumption, such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, is supporting the market growth. Consumers are becoming more health-conscious and seeking products that can provide sweetness without the negative health effects associated with sugar. This shift in consumer preferences is leading to a greater demand for low-calorie and natural sweeteners like stevia, monk fruit, and erythritol. These sweeteners offer the added benefit of having minimal impact on blood glucose levels, making them suitable for diabetic and health-conscious individuals.
Technological Advancements: Innovations in the production and formulation of alternative sweeteners are impelling the market growth. Advancements in biotechnology and food science are leading to the development of high-intensity sweeteners with improved taste profiles and functional properties. Innovations in fermentation processes enhance the production efficiency and quality of natural sweeteners like stevia and monk fruit. These technological improvements are making alternative sweeteners more appealing to both manufacturers and consumers. Enhanced stability, solubility, and sweetness intensity allow these sweeteners to be used in a wide range of products, ranging from beverages to baked goods.
