Dr Victor Gonzalez Dallas, TX

Recommended Posts

I liked him. I went in with a whole page of questions and he answered them all to my satisfaction. He did tell me about the fellowship in California. He hasn't done all that many bands (in comparison) but I think he's definitely qualified.

I found him through TLC Medical Edge. It's a few facility in Plano that several surgeons are using.

I plan on doing a little more research on him over the next couple of days but so far I am pleased

Have you seen him yet?

He has a really thourough seminar. Most Doctors I found out do not present, they usually have an assistant or someone from there staff. Thats what I was expecting. A question and answer part hand out. After wards I felt more I knew what to expect. I now that he is educated in the states. I found that many are not. What else have you found out?

I don't think he's done that many lap bands (in comparison) probably around 200 but he done many other bariatric surgeries. I know he did some training in El Paso and then his fellowship in Fresno, CA (I think). I liked him and feel really comfortable with him. Do you know the cost of his fills? I get 6 months of free fills and then I have to pay for them. Are you going to do the band? If so, do you have a date? What facility?

Cindy

I absolutely loved Dr. Gonzalez. My consult with him went very well and his office staff treated me very good. He answered all my questions and I felt he was very thorough. I feel like I'm going to be in very good hands. Wish more doctors were as kind and considerate as he was. You can tell he really cares about his patients:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
