I am being banded at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. I still have to go on Tuesday for a chest x-ray and 1 more support group meeting. Then the real countdown will begin. I am not required to do a pre-op diet, but have been trying to watch what I eat. I've been eating lot of yogurt & Soup, but they don't fill me up too much. That's where the band will come in I guess! Good luck to all of the March 14th banders! Best of luck!

Hi Wisshi,

I can say that I'm not really in too much pain. Still taking my pain meds since I have a whole bottle full, might as well. I am starting to feel a litlle more human too! I felt like my whole world was upside down yesterday but getting better today. I hope your pain gets better! Do you start full liquids tomorrow like me? LOL...never thought I would be looking forward to Slimfast & yogurt so much! Best wishes...:(

I had 2 sf Popsicles yesterday. Well one broken into 2 pieces...

1 Protein Shake today and 1/2 sf pudding,

working on some chickenless Soup now...i have never been so empty. my insides are SCREAMING at me, not hungry just loud.

I'm saving the pain med for nights...they have been the hardest.

took a walk (well a shuffle)for about 10 minutes and had to rest.

I had a hiatel hernia repaired too.

Not gonna be back on the desk tomorrow!

maybe Tuesday...

I am feeling better every hour and that's a blessing, cuz if i thought i had to stay like i was yesterday...woo boy....i'd had to have some words wit someone. Good Thing I got a LPN as a bFF! She straightened me right out.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
