My stomach as always been big and now with the weight loss It is really flabby.

I'm thinking about a TT in about a years time. (when I lose all my weight).

Can someone tell me what a TT is like what is your exerience. Is it really painful? Is the recovery time long? Will it be worth it?

thanks for your time

I'm sure I'm in line right behind you. I already have a flabby belly and overhang and it's gross, I don't expect it to get much better with weight loss. That's a little down the road for me but I'm interested in finding out more, too. I was planning on asking about a TT when I go for Band surgery April 8th. Dr Kuri has a plastic surgeon on staff that does lots of TTs and even does something, a technique, that somehow includes the inner thighs, and I have lots of hang there, too. I'll let you know what I find out...good luck!

I had my Tummy Tuck on October 29, 2004. The surgeon removed 17lbs of skin and fat and tightened the abdominal muscles.

My recovery wasn't particularly painful, but it was long. Since the surgeon removed so much skin (and I still have more to go!), my body panicked and compensated for the loss of the skin and fat by filling up with Fluid. The swelling was awful. It wasn't painful as much as it was uncomfortable, from the pressure of the swelling. I went into the surgery a size 16 and came out a size 20! I'm back to a 16 now and in some 14's.

I got very tired easily and wasn't able to go back to work full time for about 6 weeks. I'm a bartender though, and am on my feet for at least 8 hours a day. That wasn't easy right after surgery and I found myself having to leave work early quite often in the first few weeks.

My best tips are to have someone with you for at least the first week and to sleep in a recliner. You will NOT be able to lay flat for a couple of weeks. The recliner was my best friend.

The recovery really wasn't bad though, despite the swelling and the extra time off of work. And the results are amazing. I can do so much more now that I don't have all of that skin hanging off of my belly. It interfered with everything and now it's not there. Now to get my thighs, breasts and arms done!

Those pictures are incredible. What a difference.

Bikini underwear. You look great.

My band doc said I have to wait until I am 2 years post op (March 2006) until I can have a TT. He told me that after having 4 children and being overweight my whole life that the tummy is here to stay (until the TT that is).

Thank you girlies! I haven't had any kids, but being fat since I was 5 years old and carrying most of it in my belly wasn't too kind to my skin. My belly wasn't going anywhere either, no matter how much I lost.

The thighs still need to be done, unfortunately. I cropped them out of the after picture, but the inner thigh still hangs and gives me a horrible look in clothes. I work out like crazy, yet my thighs still have that lovely inner roll. I'm saving them for last though, since they're supposed to be the worst procedure pain- and recovery-wise.

Bikini panties, YES! I love, love, love wearing them. I always hated wearing underwear because of how they looked on me, now I'm breaking the bank by visiting Victoria's Secret all the time. I just took a side picture today, hadn't taken one of those yet.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. It really wasn't bad, and it was SO worth it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
