slmaem 0 Posted February 13, 2008 Just banded on 2/8, and have been on liquids only (Optifast, Soups, jello) since. Doing well (down 19 1bs) but am now very hungry 1 hour after a shake. Should I start wil some soft Protein / mashed potatoes?
losingjusme 12 Posted February 13, 2008 slmaem, contact your surgeon before progressing to soft Proteins. there are many liquids with lots of Protein in it. maybe drink 1/2 a shake, save it then 1/2 when you are feeling hungry again. up your Water intake too, sometimes that helped me. you can do this! TheGh0st 9 Posted February 13, 2008 You need to follow any advice your doc gives you first and foremost. But I would recommend trying to go more for soft Proteins over carb-ladened foods like mashed potatoes. You could try some cheese Soup or cottage cheese (chew well) or make some Sugar Free Chocolate pudding and mix in some Protein Powder. tuna salad well blended and without things like celery would also be good. Agan just chew, chew, chew.
kbinaz 0 Posted February 14, 2008 You should follow your doctor's instructions. I'm assuming he gave you some! If he didn't give you any you should ask him. My doctor had me on soft Proteins starting on day four (surgery day is day 1) (cottage cheese, chicken, refried Beans, l.f./ low sugar yogurt) and it helped with the hunger. Remember you may be kind of hungry til your first fill.
