"Green" Day Challenge

Recommended Posts

I am down 3 pounds this morning. I got a fill yesterday and then a little unfil yesterday afternoon because I was too tight. I still think I may be too tight. I couldn't lie flat last night. Had to sleep propped on pillows. I am a little nauseated this morning. If nothing changes I will probably go in for more unfill on Monday.

The good news is 3 POUNDS DOWN!!!!!!!!

Amy

Congratulations on your weight loss Renewed! That's great! I'll update your stats, make sure it's listed correctly and if it's not, let me know. I hope you're okay over the weekend. Are you able to drink comfortably?

So excited!!! I am down to 186 from 189.5 this morning. I have conquered my 3lb loss for this week and its only been a few days. I do have to say I have been very restricted since I did a spin class yesterday morning. Nothing but liquids seems to go down. I was grumpy about that, but not anymore. I am going to keep this up!!!!!!

I am still tight, but I can sleep lying flat, and I can drink liquids without problems unless they are really cold then they come back up. I ate about 1/2 cup oatmeal this morning without any problem. I just have to eat slowly and carefully. I think I am happy with this fill. Maybe a little tight, but I expect it will loosen some and I don't feel sick. I plan to stay here for awhile.

Very good, Georgia!!!! It's so nice to see results and half way there is a big deal. I haven't had a fill since a week after Thanksgiving and I go from feeling restriction to not restricted. What is it that causes us to feel restriction if we haven't had a fill recently? I am happy to feel this unexpected restriction, but a little worried it could spell trouble. FYI, it is the week before my period. Do any of you get this way?

Thanks darr!

I've heard many bandsters say that they feel more restriction during their TOM. It's hasn't effected me that way yet, but it does for many. That could definitely be why you feel more restricted.

Also, I think the band just has a mind of it's own sometimes, lol! Occasionally I'll have more restriction for a couple of days and then it's back to the way it was.

please update my stats....i'm now down to 215.0, so a total of 3.5 lbs down for this specific challenge. i had a week +/- of plateau but it looks like things are FINALLY starting to pick up some. YAY!

i'm still doing my elliptical and oh!!! i boiled cabbage w/dinner tonight (GOING GREEN), and that was all I had...it went down VERY easy and so i just skipped everything else and stuck w/the cabbage only. i notice that i can eat mostly 1/4 - 1/2 cup of most things, but w/the cabbage being so soft, i ate about a cup and it was GOOOOD! first time i've ever cooked it...so this GREEN CHALLENGE is also helping me to learn how to cook new things that before I would only get at my parents or at a restuarant....I'm a happy girl!

ok, so i'm down 3.5 lbs total....

xoxo, Christie

ps - hope everyone else is doing great! AND, what day exactly is St. Pattys Day?? I gotta figure out if i'm on schedule or begin or ahead of this Challenge! lol. Thanks!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
