How Did You Feel Physically After Lap Band Removal

Recommended Posts

Anyone else wonder why none of these doctors, their wives, kids, staff who are all clearly obese never had bariatric surgery. When I ask had anyone had it. The answer is no way. Be mindful people.

I had my band out 1.5 weeks ago and never felt better. I had the band for 7 years which were the worst years of my life.....I'm still in pain after the surgery, but as it day goes by I feel much better. I've been told by my dr that the swelling will subside in 3 weeks. Now just have to be careful that the weight doesn't come back on.

Good luck!

2 weeks later after lap band removal and repair of huge hernia I have bouts of diarrhea and after I eat, stomach expands. Pain and cramping but tolerable. Wounds are good, no vomiting or fever. Dr. Mentioned Probiotics nothing else. I’m miserable.

I had my lap band removed in November of 2023. It was the best thing that ever did. Getting a lapband was the stupidest thing I've ever done in my life in the biggest waste of money.

It was a complete rip-off. They give you nothing but false hope. I paid for it on my own. I basically just threw $10000 away.

I never lost weight. What did happen was a bunch of complications and side effects. Reflux excessive gas. Severe pain in my chest and shoulder blade area. Vomiting food up of course. I wouldn't recommend getting a lap band to my worst enemy.

2 months after getting it out. I still have excessive gas. On a good note, most of the other things that I mentioned have subsided.

I can't wait for the lawsuits to start being filed. I will be right there with them. My money should be returned to me because it never worked. Like the old saying, goes. If it sounds too good to be true. It probably is.

None of them. Get it because it's all a waste of money. The biggest waste of money I have ever spent. You pay for it. Then you have all kinds of complications and problems. So basically you pay for medical problems. I hope they start some kind of lawsuit against them for it. Because they don't care what they do to people just as long as they're making money. When I was getting mine taken out? I was told that people are constantly getting them taken out. The place that I went through to get mine isn't even in business anymore. What is that tell you?

I had mine removed 2017 and it gave me relief because I had GERD. I was so much more comfortable and could eat without throwing up eventually. There’s still changes that have stayed like burping after meals and sometimes foods like rice and bread still feel harder to pass without liquid to help it down. But I’m happy I got mine removed because there’s no more Extreme GERD.

Lap band surgery 2004, nothing but pain & discomfort, no weight loss. Especially port sight hurt, lots of throwing up. After several attempts for help I started to just “live with it”. Married a wonderful man about 2 years ago, he said No your quality of life is more important. Went to doctors with me and he detailed everything (stuff I didn’t think to mention). I was referred to an excellent gastric surgeon. After tests and imaging, he said “the band needs to be removed and a bypass RNY performed. I was scheduled within a week, no waiting time. Best thing I ever did! The band was cutting into my liver, and other issues. I had a bit of discomfort but no pain meds other than Tylenol.
I had this done May 15,2023, I have lost 70 pounds and feel great. Wear a size 4-6 jeans. I hope this helps someone. I think the band is the worst choice!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
