Got a call today from the surgeons office stating that they need to get a denial from my primary insurance which is UHC before they can give me a surgery date. UGHHH!!! I am so pissed. First off, I've mentioned to the nurse who is handeling my file not once but numerous times with regards to my primary insurance. Never once did she say we had to submit it to them first because we both new that it was an exclusion on my policy. So we just submitted it to Aetna, who is my secondary and it was approved. So because she is on vacation this week, we have to wait until Monday before she submits it to UHC for the denial. At first the other nurse said to me that I would have to wait until I get the denial before they would give me a date, but after I went off about how this whole process has been ridiculously long due to people dropping the ball, she said she would make sure I had my surgery date when I go in next week for orientation. She said they will just schedule me out a few weeks.

I am so sick of these people. Another thing, they act as if there is only one nurse in the office, so when she's out, I have to wait until she gets back to do anything with my file. I'm calling them back tomorrow, to see if anyone is capable of faxing everything to UHC tomorrow, so I could possibly get the letter before I go in next week.

And they wonder why our brains explode by the time we hear whether we were approved or denied!! It seems as if everyone's process is painful.

Hang in there, those before us suffered through the process, as we are now. At least you have approval! I envy you as I sit and wait for that.

I was told by Aetna on Monday that I am in medical review. Okay, fine.

Then I get a call from my surgery center Tues. telling me that they submitted my file to Aetna 2-12. I said "What?????? You told me on Jan. 28th that you submitted it that week. Then Aenta sent me a letter on 2-2 saying that docs were missing. I spoke to your ins. girl on 2-4 and she faxed them again to Aetna while I was on the phone on 2-4. Aetna gave me confirmation of receipt that same day. Then on 2-11 Aetna told me they received everything and that my case was in medical review. Given all this, how could you be saying that it just went today??!!!" Answer from her "I am confused to, but that is what it says here. You sound farther along so keep us posted." I hung up bewildered. And we are to trust all these other people with the most important thing in our lives. I feel your pain and frustration. You are almost there. We wish you the best with your surgery.

Lonestar, it is crazy!!! Your right, I am grateful that I'm approved. I did have another nurse call me back the next day and she said she would make sure all my paperwork would get sent to UHC the next day. This would be 2/14/08. So hopefully I will be getting a denial soon. That sounds weird that I want a denial.

Anyhoo, I am praying that you will get your approval soon. With all these new changes, everyones journey will hopefully become easier.
