Praying Ill make it through another 11 days of just optifast!

Recommended Posts

I got my call today from the pre-op nurse at True Results here in Houston giving me instructions for next Tuesday the 26th. I have to be there by 6:30am with the usual fasting, my CPAP and a pillow. I guess I will find out what the pillow is for when I get there. She said surgery will start at 8am and I should be heading home about five hours later.

I did good today on Optifast with little cravings and less thoughts about food in general. I have not deviated from this OPTIFAST at all and my wife cannot believe I have gone this many days without any real food and I am not climbing the walls.

You all are doing very well too. I know this stuff is not that great, but someday we can look back and laugh about it. I hope. Everyone keep up the good work. Karina I don't see how you can prepare dinner and not just go crazy handing the food and not just taking a bite or two. That would drive me up the wall for sure. Since I have not been in the kitchen cooking, my wife has been eating those Healthy Choice frozen things which I don't like anyway so when she eats it does not bother me.

Stay strong everyone........Jim

FRESCA: I cook very fast and I make sure to have a shake right before i cook. It smells so good, but I haven tried anyting since Tuesday. I was even offered a yogurt parfait from McDs and I said NO. I have stuck with the Optifast, little Water, Slimfast at night, sugarfree Jello, & sugarfree candies since Tuesday. It's been a challenge, but I get over each battle a little stronger.

I told my daughter of 19, that she might have to cooking soon. I think I'm pretty strong, but yesterday's dinner smelled soooo goooodd!!!. Then they eat in front of me. I just don't look and focus on the tv.

I have to do this until March 3. Then Clear liquids.....yummy...lol...... I know there is a light at the end of this tunnel.

I JUST KEEP THINKING, BY THE TIME SUMMER COMES, I SHOULD BE ABOUT 30LBS LIGHTER OR MORE. THAT'S GREAT......

GOOD LUCK FRESCA!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

I'm noticing that a lot of you are on liquids only BEFORE being banded. Does that make a difference? My Dr did not say that I needed to do liquids BEFORE being bandd, but I will be on liquids only for 5 weeks after surgery. He says that I can do Carnation Instant Breakfast, as well as Slim Fast shakes. I'm kinda nervous now.....I'm being banded on 3/10/08.:confused2:

I start my 2 week liquid phase on March 10. My surgery is March 24. My boyfriend and I are definite foodies. He is not overweight, he has so much muscle and has a physical job so, he doesn't deal with the same demons as I. I still have my bulimia demons, my "fascination" with proana/mia sites, my horrible habit of measuring myself up against every other woman in the room. It's crazy how someone so vain can be so insecure. I suppose vanity and insecurity are really one in the same. At any rate, I am ready and want this so badly! I had to be on Clear Liquids only for one day a couple of years ago for a procedure. I thought I would die! Now I think about people who have no food and go to bed hungry every night. That didn't always keep me from eating a roll of cookie dough (boy, those days are over!). I am hoping that looking at the liquid fasting as a sort of religious and detoxifying experience will make it easier and prove to myself that I can control what I put into my body. People fast in prayer for days to show their devotion to God. I should be able to drink Liquid Protein for two weeks without wigging out. I guess we never really know until we have to do it for ourselves. I am so glad you all are here. This forum has been a lifesaver! yummy! a butterscotch lifesaver! Do those come in sugar free?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
