Shinyhappymommy 2 Posted February 13, 2008 I'm newly banded and have sleep apnea. I'm wondering how those of you who no longer have apnea have discovered that fact. Did you have to go back for another sleep study, or is a pulse oximeter overnight study enough? I so look forward to not having to wear my cpap anymore. Also, what BMI did you need to get down to in order for the apnea to go away? Thanks.
BlueEyedKitty 0 Posted February 13, 2008 I was banded 4 months ago and have been on CPAP for the last 2 years. I love my CPAP because I sleep so well now, but I will love to get rid of it too. I've turned my pressure down twice since being banded, but I'm a Sleep Tech so I kindof just feel free to adjust my own equipment. Will probably take an oximeter home with me one of these days and just see what it does if I go without CPAP, but an oxi isn't the most accurate assessment of your respiratory status, so I'm planning on a follow up sleep study when I get under 200lbs.
