HI Mrs. Jones

Welcome to the site. I am due to get banded and I'm looking forward to losing weight too. I am a little nervous but being on this site helps to calm me some. Is there anything you want to tell about your experience.

I am seeing Dr. Rex Luttrell at the Rivercrest Clinic in Little Rock, AR. Suprisingly, on my surgery day I was pretty calm. I wasn't nervous and the nurses were great. My tummy was a little sore after surgery and a few days after. I haven't had trouble transitioning from a liquid diet to soft foods. My only trouble is not eating enough. I go to bed with a tummy ache or I wake up in the middle of the night with a tummy ache. I realized after a few nights of this that I need to eat a cracker or two and then I would be fine. I haven't had my follow up appt., that is next Tuesday. I plan on discussing the hunger pangs with the doc. So pretty much my experience has been great!

You guys are amazing! I have not been banded yet but am seriously considering it. I would love to know all I can. Has it been a good recovery? Was it easy to get back to your normal routine?

I Got Banded On Feb 1. I Have Not Had The Weight Loss That The Rest Of You Have Had. I Am Not Sure Why Though. I Have An Appointment On The 19 With My Surgeon. I Am Hoping She Can Tell Me What Is Going On. Also, How Are Your Energy Levels? I Am Having A Hard Time With This. I Take Vitamins And Have More Than Enough Protien, But Still No Energy. It Worries Me. Do Any Of You Experince This?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
