Was wondering if anyone has PCOS and been put on metformin to try and help? I am taking 1 in the morning and 1 at night. I find when I eat the usual rubbish, white bread for lunch etc... Im fine but if I have salad my sugar drops and by afternoon I am shovelling milo into my mouth to try and stabilise it. Im a bit worried about the Optifast thats coming next month I dont want to have low sugar as well as the other stuff that goes with fasting. I will check this out with my Dr but thought someone might have already had the same experience

I was on metformin for a while. I don't like it, it made me feel ill. I also found if I had that and a Vitamin, I ended up having to run to the toilet if I ate anything with more than a thimble full of oil in it! I stopped taking them after a while.

I have been prescribed it twice and never gotten the RX filled.

So far the best thing for my PCOS symptoms is the band LOL

Hey Nat

you will be totally suprised the transformation your body goes through when you lose weight.

I lost 100 pounds 7 years ago I had PCOS a tumour on my pituatry gland and I was over 170kgs. I started seeing a brilliant doctor in brissie and he helped me through medication and encouragement to lose the weight. I was told I would never have children. I lost 100 pounds in 10 months and fell naturally and unexpectantly preggy with my lil boy. three years later I fell pregnant while on the pill after her birth I have put on nearly 180 pounds as I suffered bad hormone problems!!!

So here I am now I am banded so I can enjoy my life with my children!!!

Good luck hun

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
