Recover time for Tummy Tuck & Breast Lift with Implants

Recommended Posts

I am getting my Tummy Tuck and maybe a breast lift with Implants next week and I need to know for all the poeple who have already went through this process how long were they in actual pain and how long were they off of work?? I am taking 2 weeks off of work but wanted to know when did you start feeling normal again. I am excited yet nervous because I have 3 kids and I can't take to much time without being able to do my normal routine. Also I heard that a lift is much more painful that implants can that be true??? I need feed back really soon.

Thank you

I had a Tummy Tuck in 2005 and depending on how physcial your job is plan for at least 3 weeks. If you have a physcial job plan on even longer. With conbination surgeries recovery is longer. I had a breast reduction and sailed through it. Recovery slam dunk, the TT was longer and you have to to careful not to overdue, believe it or not it was easy to do.

I had mine 4 weeks ago, and I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow, recovery was very easy for me, not so sure why, but I'm greatful, LOL.

Also had breast redu/lift as well and Lipo. That area is still tender.

Harleynana,

How much time can you that it was uncomfortable where you could not move or really function and how would you comparte the pain?

Well, actually, I was ok from the second day, I wasn't dancing a jig, but on day two, I cooked Dh a steak on the grill and folded the laundry. But i felt better moving. I was too scared to sit too long, too worried about blood clots, I truly believe, as I've posted before, being mobile, keeping on the move within the house premises helped me heal faster. My hardest times were when I showered, having to deal with those &((^*% drains :D

Once they were out, I was out and about on my own, I drove on the 5th day, and quit taking pain pills of any type on the Wed after my Monday surgery.

As to comparing the pain, it was more uncomfortable than painful. The Lipo is still tender, the tummy still pulls a little when I strech or reach up too high and the girls left me know if I've lifted more than I should.

Still not standing tall, hubby fusses at me all the time to hold my shoulders up, but after 58 years of leaning forward, well it's a hard bad habit to break.

I had a Tummy Tuck with muscle repair the first week of November, 2007, and here it is now 3 months later, and I wish I could say that it is just a memory, but NOT!! The pain was totally tolerable without meds after 2 days, but those drains gave me fits. I could not sleep in my bed for a couple of weeks, since the drains came out on day 10, and then I got some swelling and had to be drained a few days later. Not painful though, just a nuisance. I could stand up straight by Thanksgiving, as a matter of fact I had my family over for the day, but was so tired, and was bent nearly over by the end of the day. Each day got straighter, but the tiredness still continues to plague me. I feel fine, look great, just a sort of pale white color, and not enough energy to get my house cleaned. I really think it is the winter blues more than any thing else. I am sure you will do just fine, and you will LOVE your new body. We all heal different, so let us know how you are getting along. MIZBOO:lol:

LJM if it was all that bad I would tell you for sure, but I swear, I was off all pain meds by day two. Dealing with the drains was by far worse than the pain itself. Plus, once you take off the compression garment the first few times, be ready to grab a chair or seat, because I got soo woosy, thought I was going to pass out.

You'll be fine. I was just telling a friend today, I'll be glad when all the swelling is really gone so I'll know what size clothes to buy, LOL.

Harleynana did you feel that way from pain or what was the reason you felt woosy when you would take off teh compression garment?? I am due to have surgery on Thursday the 21 and I am starting to feel stressed.

E..I think it was from removing the compression garment, and the rush of blood made me dizzy and almost pass out. It was NOT from pain, just a very weird feeling.

Had the same procedures done at the same time... was a few weeks. The lapband was a breeze compared to the Tummy Tuck and implants! I felt like I had died for the first few days.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
