I have been contemplating all kinds of way to "FINALLY" get my weight under control. I decided that before my next birthday (october) I would get things straight. Diets haven't worked and I'm tired of rebounds that result in more weight. I'm 5'2" and 203 now the biggest I've ever been other then 9 months pregnate with my daughter and 212. I go to my seminar on 2/20/08 and have already decided to use the same doctor that did my gall bladder surgery, Dr. Bautista in Richmond, VA, he is so down to earth, honest and funny. I'll be keeping my posts going though my journey.

Welcome and congratulations on your decision. It's funny...I made up my mind on my birthday too. I went to the doctor following my 33rd birthday and began with my six months of supervised weight loss effort (that was September 2006). In April 2007 I went under the knife and now I'm 87 pounds lighter. It is a wonderful tool and it can truly make a difference in your life. Good luck on your journey!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
