NOT Losing Weight anymore and Trying sooo hard

Recommended Posts

I am in your same position. I have been holding steady at 181 for 5 weeks now with NO weight loss. It has frustrated me to no end because I am working out like crazy 6 days a week. I am going to the doctor tomorrow to talk about my options and whether he thinks I should get a fill. I am like you in that I am afraid to be overfilled. Oh well, maybe our bodies just need a rest, but as far as I am concerned my body has rested enough. It is time to start dropping again. Good luck!

Muscle weighs more than fat by volumn so you are probably losing inches. That's better in my book!

I know what you mean, jfran--I really wanted to blow everything when I went three 1/2 weeks with dropping even 1/10 of a pound--but I hung in, knowing I was still doing what was best for me...

But I must say--man, the way your looks have changed--even now you have made a huge difference in yourself--WOW!

Yes, I know--there's still a long way to go--for both of us!

Where i was banded,

We were strictly told, no liquids with the solids as it will wash through the food, leaving you not as full or satisfied and restricted, making you take in more calories later.

Also, the shake in the morning may not be keeping you satisfied either, again where I was banded they insist on us having 3 solid meals a day to have the full effects of the band work for you.

I lost a good amount of weight in the very beggining but haven't had any restriction due to the band not being tight enough.

Now I feel a tightness in my chest all the time, don't know what that is all about.

Good luck,

Janet :D

My surgeon's office has the same rules except they do have us replace one meal a day with a Protein Shake. Jfran you look awesome...have you tried shaking up your routine a bit with different types of exercise or a difference in your diet? Sometimes that helps get things moving.

Hi there, I know how you feel, and I think I can make you feel better. I have lost 60 lbs. since last January, but was banded in July/07 and have only lost 27 lbs. or so. I'm right where you are. I have a 4cc band, I have 2.5 cc's already and cannot move the scales. Now, to let you know my Dr. found that I had a fatty liver when he did my surgery and I'm learning that can be the cause of my non-loss. I am NOT gaining an ounce, I'm just stuck. I'm going to my dr. tomorrow and he is going to see another month and no loss, thats 2 months in a row without a loss at all. I have lost so many inches in the process that possibly that is still going on. I too have been so frustrated. I get all of my Protein in, and only eat food food at lunch, and its usually a salad. I am doing a liver detox as I learned from a Dr. in Austrailia that can make you not loose weight at all. I know that my Dr. thinks I'm not doing this correctly but, I am. I just talked to a trainer last week as well. Any suggestions, comments? I will say that I've never felt so tight after a fill, and I'm wondering if something could be wrong? Thanks! Tonya

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
