Help! Too Tight After My Fill Today

Recommended Posts

Today I had my 4th fill, and I'm experiencing a band that is way too tight. I can't even drink Water, and my saliva keeps collecting. I have the new band, and went from 4.5-5.5. 4.5 was too little, and 5.5 is too much.

My question is this: is there ever a time when you feel this way and it settles down the next day......or is it just really too tight and I need to have some removed.

I'm not sure how I'll sleep tonight with this pressure.

thanks

When you cannot swallow your own saliva, I would say you are too tight.

Can you get anything at all down? If so, try itty bitty tiny sips of liquid---and see if it makes a difference in what the temperature is.

Sometimes warm liquid relaxes the band----and yet other times, cool liquid can help in reducing swelling.

If you are still having the problem come morning, and have been up all night spitting out your saliva, then yep I'd be calling for an unfill. Keep in mind, they may have to remove more than they put in to make up for the swelling caused by the over fill.

Do what you have to to keep your band healthy---it is not good to be too tight!!

Good Luck, welcome to LBT---let us know how you are doing tomorrow!!!

Please go to your nearest Emergency Room. I tried to ride out a "too full band" over the weekend. I went to Emergency last night where I was told I was extremely - and DANGEROUSLY- dehydrated!!! My kidneys were shutting down and my heart was in "tachacardia" (sp??). After five liters of intervenous fluids I finally felt like I needed to go to the bathroom. My Dr. met me after I was in the hospital and took out the amount (.5cc's) that he gave me on Thursday. I feel so much better.

Losing weight is great - LOSING YOUR LIFE DUE TO DEHYDRATION - which can happen is stupid.

When you can't swallow your own saliva you could be putting your life in danger. Trust me I know I just experienced it and will never allow it to happen again!!!

GOOD LUCK

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
