Just Banded In Idaho

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, I was just banded on Feb 7th and I have to tell you I am still in pain. My shoulder feels pinched all the time and when I sleep everything tightens up so my husband has to help me sit up in the morning or I can't move. Anyone else feel this much pain? When can I expect it to go away? I also don't know if I am hungry half the time, am I hungry or is that pain? If I am hungry what should I eat and if I am not hungry will I hurt something if I eat? As you can see I am a bit befuddled, I don't do pain well!!

my doc told me to expect shoulder pain. the gas they pump into your stomach to give them room to work has to work its way out. get yourself some gas-x and when you feel that pain, get up and walk around. the new bandster moto: walk walk walk! sip sip sip!

as far as what to eat --- i'm sure your doc gave you strict instructions on what is allowed this early on. follow that!!! for me, it was Protein Shakes and jello! till mushies, which you can find a lot more interesting recipes to play with! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

btw, i know the BIGGEST group of losers in all of idaho!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha - you must go here: http://band2gether.net/index.php?referrerid=370

i'd say there are at least 20 ID bandsters and they get together all the time. i'm so envious that i am not closer to be a part of all the fun! my screen name is the same over there as it is here... and i post MUCH more frequently there. check it out!!! when you do, be sure to pop by and say hi!

Oh, I remember that pain. Actually, for the first week, I slept in a recliner and found that to really help with the pain from trying to go from sitting to an upright position. I also used a heating pad on my tummy and that helped a lot.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
