3 band adjustment..wow!!

Recommended Posts

My surgery date was 07/05/2007. I had lost about 40 lbs before christmas...then during the holidays I found myself eating everything that I was not suppose to. I did not get full either. My 2nd band adjustment had been done in October and I missed the one in December..partly because I knew I had been bad...

So, I went for the 3rd adjustment about 1 1/2 weeks ago. THIS TIME...well, now I really have to chew chew chew, sometimes the food hurts when it goes down, until it passes ( I guess) and I espicially notice in the mornings if I eat something to greasy or spicy...I vomit!! THIS has never been like that. Although I am glad it is boosting my wt loss...DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS HOW IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE?? I HAVE MY FEELINGS THAT IT IS FINALLY ADJUSTED RIGHT...BUT WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM OTHERS...

I AM EATING MAYBE ONLY A CUP FULL OF FOOD AT A TIME AND OF COURSE MY Vitamins AND Protein Shake.< /p>

thanks so much

CATHY

I would like to say what you are going through is not normal but unfortunately you are on the right track. I am 4 months post op down 40 pounds and I have had 3 fills. Each fill gets me closer to that sweet spot that ever lapbander wants to be at.... the one where you eat very little and are dropping pounds. Since surgery I have not been able to eat in the mornings so I opt for Protein Shake. If I try to eat to early I either vomit or slime both are not fun. I would be concerned if you feel like everthing is getting stuck or you can't keep anything down. I can tell you that if I don't chew enough or if the Protein I am eating is to dry it does feel like it is tight but it will pass. After my fills it usually takes me a week or so to get back to spicy food... greasy food doesn't agree with me at all. I hope this helps and it sounds like you are headed towards your goal.

Yep, you're about there I'd say. Now you have REALLY got to listen to your body. You REALLY have to slow down. You really have to take small bites and chew chew chew. If you don't...well, you know the consequences. This is where that old learning curve rears its ugly head. Your band is now finally working for you....now YOU have to work WITH the band!

ive only had one fill and i can eat normal like i used to before surgery so when i go for my doctors visit on the 26th i think that i will ask for another fill. i have lost 33 pounds since surgery which was on nov.19th so that isnt bad but i would like to have more restriction.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
