How To Find A Doctor To Do Fills On Outside Patients

Recommended Posts

BEEN BANDED IN MEXICO?? OR MOVED? AND NEED A DOCTOR TO DO FILLS. This is what I did. I went on line and got a list of all bariatric doctors within a 75 mile radius of my home. I was surprised that I found around thirty doctors. I then got on the phone and called them all. I'll be honest and tell you that the majority wouldn't take me but when I was done making calls, I had five different doctors to choose from. I compared locations and prices and made my decision. I then came online here and posted the list of doctors that will do fills. I thought I posted here and I also posted it on the MiCHIGAN site. It would be a big help if you've done this if you could post it here.

I did not check out any doctors in the Detroit area because I didn't want to hastle with the city and traffic. Check out the Mi section here. There are a lot of doctors in that area. There should be at least one who will do them.

I see Dr Weiner in Detroit. He may take you on as well. He is at Detroit Medical Center. It is really easy to find and the traffic is not bad one bit. He is with Michigan Obesity Surgical Center. It doesn't hurt to ask!!

I am a private practice family nurse practitioner. I have recently received training and certification from Fill-center-usa, I am located in Salem, Oregon. Give them a call...we'll get you in for a fill.:cursing:

This is an extremely daunting task, my band doc is 3 hours away one-way, there's about 10 closer band docs, and not a single one of them would work on anyone else's patient for fills.

I did finally find 2 in Nashville, TN that take other patients. Dr. Houston (which I heard good things), and then some other doctor in his building that I was told is a jackass.

Good luck!!

BINGO! You are a smart one.

I've moved 2 times since being banded and haven't found a single doctor who wouldn't do fills. I just chose the cheapest/closest, too.

Thanks for the post!

Just met a practice yesterday who won't take patients if they were banded in Mexico, Las Vegas, or anywhere that saved them money.

No kidding, the docs very words were 'to save money'.

I'll out them:

Intermountain Health Care System, Dixie Regional Medical Center.

So, it's not about health care...it's EGO. They are upset someone moved in and was already banded and they lost money.

I have no doubt thats exactly why they dont want to do the fills. They figure they are going to punish those of us who saved money. Ba$t@rds.

Ha! I love how that doc said he wouldn't take patients that went to Las Vegas to save money! What about those of us that actually LIVE here? LOL I am having my surgery here (because I live here) but will be moving (military orders) this summer. I sure hope I don't have trouble finding fill docs, and now I am extra worried that having come from LAS VEGAS I'll be even more likely to be rejected. They really need to work this out, because if thousands of people are having this procedure every year, and they are supposed to last a lifetime - then it is obvious that people will be moving and changing docs!! Grrrrr.....

No, it's not ego... it's just money. They are annoyed that patients are going to places where banding is reasonable.

Just because someone is a doctor that doesn't make them bright. Word of mouth is the best advertising around. I'd be sure to spread that docs name around with a caution NOT to go there for banding. ;o)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
