cigna and no co-morbidities

Recommended Posts

has anyone gotten approved by cigna while having no co-morbidities? i don't have any (probably will in a few years though if i don't have the surgery) and was wondering if this will affect my chances of approval. i meet all the other criteria and stuff. thanks!

I was approved with no commorbities by Cigna but when my paperwork was submitted for approval my BMI was 40.1. I had to make sure that I never went under 40 during the 6 month diet.

so you have to go thru the 6 month diet even if your over 40 bmi? what if you have over 2yrs of doctor reports on your weight??

doesn't matter. you have to show a 6 month weight loss attempt over 6 consecutive months. i don't mind the 6 month thing since it's a part of a lap-band education and life changes (psych, nutrition, etc) seminar/support group thing.

Thank you Trish5713. that sucks because I have been going to the support groups since September 07 and have been on the protien shakes for over a month. Which isnt bad at all I've lost 10lbs so far. I feel a little discouraged though. I kinda feel like i'm starting all over:<

When my paperwork was submitted for approval my BMI was 40.1. I did not have to do the pre-op diet until I was approved for the surgery. I had to do the diet a week prior to surgery and then it did not matter what my BMI was since it was already approved and they don't have to submit any additional paperwork for approval. Basically once your approved your BMI can go down. By the time I had the surgery after doing the pre-op diet my BMI was 38.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
