Hi Everyone,

I'm new here, found it after my LBL surgery and decided I'd post about my LBL. I think education is everyone's best friend, especially to the people who haven't made a decision about reconstructive surgery yet.

I had my band done in Tijiana by Dr. Kuri in 8/2003. I never did reach goal, but did decide late last year that I've lost about all that I will and went ahead with the LBL. AngelNurse, I believe, posted that the LapBand was a mosquito bite and the LBL a alligator bite according to her doctor, and a shark bite according to her. I can wholeheartedly agree! I'm three and one half weeks out and have always sprung up from surgeries in the past. This one has been very tough. I'm 45 years old and I guess just don't bounce back the way that I did. That being said I believe it will be totally worth it! I went back to do some work at one week (stupid decision) and have been working and then taking a day off periodically for the last two weeks as well. I'm in a commission only job, so it's tough not to work!

My PS did use an epideral pain pump and I thank my lucky stars for that! By the time I was out of the hospital I had had very minimal pain and the third day Vicodin controlled it very well. My PS doesn't weigh the results either but said that it was likely around 6 lbs. I'm already down 7 lbs as it was tough to eat after the LBL and I'm about ready to order a smaller compression garment as it isn't supporting as much as I'd like.

I've had one complication and that is an infection on my left hip. I'm on antiboitics and had to have the stitches opened up so it can drain. That was at two weeks and it will have to heal for at least another two weeks. Other than that the scars are settling down to a fine line. I think he did an awesome job as you can tell in areas that it will be like someone drew around me with a pencil, not the 1/2" scars I've seen on some pics.

Hope to make some LapBand and LBL friends here!

Chris

I'm not sure of the format BUT

Weight before surgery: 242

Lowest Weight: 178

Weight at LBL: 205

Current Weight: 198

Welcome Christ, wow is all I can say, that was a lot to go through!

I had TT and Breast lift/redu on the 14th of Jan, my scars are still a pretty purple and I've been faithful, well sorta faithful about putting the Mederma on them.

You know us nosey LB folks would love to see pictures. I posted some on the Feb/March 08 surgery site.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
