Exercise and LapBand tightness

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this is a coincidence, but everytime I use my ab lounger for a few days, my band seems to get too tight. My doctor says that sit ups would not cause this to happen.

Anyway, I went from being able to eat a lot to hardly being able to eat anything. I have to be so careful of the amount and what I eat, or I vomit. Right now I feel like I'm not eating enough. I'm waiting it out this week because I'm hesitating to have an unfill, since it's been such a long time since I've had a good restriction - I'm hoping that my band will loosen just a little (never thought I'd say that).

The last time this happened to me, and I had an unfill, I didn't have enough restriction.

Has anyone had the experience of their band getting tight on its own and then loosening up?

If I do a normal one hour exercise session I don't have that problem. If I do something like wash my car or work in the yard for a few hours getting all hot and sweaty, I seem to tighten up for the rest of the day. I thought it was just me!!lol!!

Hey Valerie,

I've found that my band tightness will vary throughout the month. So, one week I'll feel like I can eat anything in any amount, and the next I'm so tight that I have to be very careful or I PB. I've identified a couple of things so far that make me seem tighter:

* If I have a cold and a lot of congestion, I get VERY tight

* If I'm a little PMS and holding Water, I get tight

You may want to try and drink lots of Water and see if that won't help your body release water and reduce restriction. I'm not sure about everyone else, but that always seems to help me!

Lori - Thanks for the suggestion. I do normally drink a lot of Water, but now that I think of it, since my band has been tight, I've been drinking less.

Maybe you are dehydrated. If I don't drink enough when I exercise my band feels really tight and I only recently realized it was because I was dehydrated.

I think you might be right Karen. I'm going to try to drink more Water. I'll let you know how I do - thank you.
