My surgeon has just discovered my port is back to front and couldn`t give me a 1st fill. He said I would hear from him in the next 6 weeks. Has anyone experienced this and how was it corrected. Could it have been fitted wrongly as on the Xray the tube coming from it was straight and if it had turned on its own surely I would have seen a twist in that tube.

There's a member here named FairyFacade (Laura) that had a flipped port. She said she'll be back to post on Thursday. You could try PMing her then.

Hello!

They kept 'filling' me for months, and I never felt a change. They did it under fluero a few times. Finally they saw, the saline was just 'splooshing' into my body. They initially thought I had a leak in the port or tubing, they couldn't tell the problem.

So I had another operation to fix leaking...when they got in there, my port had flipped completely backward, so that under the x-ray it looked fine.

They flipped it back, and moved it from my stomach to between my breasts (the hard spot).

The surgery was not bad at all, just sore. MUCH better than the initial surgery. It has not flipped again since.

Good luck, it sucks finding out you have a complication.. but it does pass. A week after the surgery I was back to being excited about the band! Especially since they can fill it now.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
