Overwhelmed by amount to lose

Recommended Posts

I realize I was just banded on Jan. 25th 2008. But I am freaking out. I just have so much to lose. I need to lose over a 100lbs. Glad I found this group. It helps to keep me focused. Anyone else out there overwhelmed?

Yes, I was banded on Nov 5/2007 I'm also very overwhelmed about losing 100 +

It is going forever so slow , but exercise is the key and now I have such a cold. I have to wait.

It takes some time and patience.

Yes I have been overwhelmed by more than a few things regarding the lapband process. Timeline and reality(photos, numbers etc) get to me.

I reflect on everything. Talk to friends, family, Dr.s and myself...lol

This message board has been a Godsend.

If you lose only 1 lb a week, you'll be there in 2 years.

A little exercise and eating right, and 2 lbs a week can easily in reach. That makes the journey only a year long.

If you did nothing, where would you be in a year? Embrace the change!

I have a LOT to lose . . . but I'm not thinking about it as being overwhelming . . . I've just readjusted my life . . . and as with any journey, it starts with one foot in front of the other . . . and keep moving  I still have so far to go . . . but my daughter (bless her heart) said the other day . . . "mom - in a few more pounds you'll be 1/3 of the way to goal" . . . it's something I never even thought about . . . and it perked me right up  Even on the days when I go up a couple pounds on the scale, I know it's going to come off again shortly, and as long as I stay on course and do what I'm supposed to, it can't help but keep inching down the scale.< /p>

Enjoy your journey . . . there is a better YOU at the end of it . . . and even along the way for that matter! :D

Chris

Hi Cosmo, Did you notice that there groups for people who need to lose 100+ pounds...also more groups for different amts. to lose. They should help make you less overwhelmed.

Just keep your chin up and your eyes on your goals. I started last July feeling the same way as you. After I got adjusted mentally and physically to the new lifestyle, I started working out regularly and eating right and the pounds really melted away.

Cosmo, I feel the same way and yet I am excited and cant wait to start watching myself change. I am definitely going to take a picture each month after the surgery and see the results as I go. I have come across several people on here you did that and it was amazing and I also think it may make a difficult time easier... maybe I will post the pics on my frig or just in the kitchen in general. Good luck!!

Cosmo:

I've been there, done that. It can be overwhelming if you think of it in total. I tried to think about it in much smaller chunks, 10 pounds, 25 pounds, 50 pounds, 60 pounds, 70 pounds, and here I am at 105 pounds lost. I still need to lose about 55 or so, so I'm focusing on getting 45 off by my one year bandiversary, and the other ten by end of 2008.

I think that starting the journey was the hardest part because I was dieting for 3 months pre-surgery without a band and I was nervous about gaining it back because I didn't have my band yet. However, I worked very hard and kept it off - lost 38 pounds presurgery.

I hope all goes well for you and try to think of it in smaller chunks and then it's not so overwhelming.

Take care.

Sue

Oh, this is my song too. And I've lost 100 pounds already once and know how it was...grueling to say the least.

But I have hope, with my band.

I liken my journey now to, you know, when you're watching one of those reality shows and someone is doing all this crazy stuff in this obstacle race, and they're right at the end, and they lose their ball, or plate, or whatever, and then they have to go back and start over, and everyone else is almost done, and there is this split second when you see this look on their face, devastated,

like, "how can I? I gave it everything the first time, I am exhausted." ...but then they turn around and try again.

I go through this daily.

As my daughter says, "I'm not on a diet; I'm in a new phase of my life that is going to last for the next 70 years."

She realizes (even better than her mother) that the calendar isn't what makes you a success or a failure on this journey. The time it takes is immaterial; you become a healthier, and probably happier, person as soon as you take the first few steps.

She was banded in October 2006 and had lost 100 lb by July 2007. She is now down 124 lb and continuing on her path.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
