EugeniaM 0 Posted February 9, 2008 I told my band doctor that I was having brachioplasty next week and he wants to remove some of my fill on Monday (he wasn't clear on how much). I am currently at 7.8 cc's in my VG band. Is this a common practice? SInce I only spoke to the nurse I really didn't have a chance to ask why. Did any of you have this experience? Thanks Eugenia
HarleyNana 10 Posted February 9, 2008 I just had TT and breast redu/lift, I didn't get an unfill of any amount.
kareyquilts 1 Posted February 9, 2008 I'm having a TT soon and my band doc said to keep the same fill level. I know many who have had a slight unfill or a total unfill and those like Nana who haven't had any. I think they worry about swelling and the band having pressure on it. Eugenia, why don't you join the Feb/March plastic surgery thread and keep us posted on your surgery. It's a great group of people and you'll feel lots of support. HarleyNana 10 Posted February 11, 2008 Neal, I did fine without the unfill, but I've been at the same level for almost a year . Maybe my "sweet" spot, ya think, LOL.
losingjusme 12 Posted February 11, 2008 neal should be checked into the surgical center by now... SO EXCITING!!
EugeniaM 0 Posted February 11, 2008 Well I just got back from the doctor and he has decided not to unfill me. I have been at my current fill level for 2 1/2 months and don't have good restriction so he thinks I should be fine. Thanks everyone for your respones! puddin 7 Posted February 11, 2008 I had a lower-body lift and did not get unfilled at all for it and things were fine. I figured if I couldn't eat anything, I'd just survive on Protein Shakes. But then again, some people react differently.
kareyquilts 1 Posted February 11, 2008 Puddin: Wow! I feel like I just heard from a long lost friend. How are you doing? I'm having a full Tummy Tuck and breast lift in 3 weeks and you were my inspiration. There are a lot of us willing to share on the Feb/March plastics thread. I may start my own thread in a week or so, so check it out. I hope your happy and doing well!

puddin 7 Posted February 11, 2008 Hey, thanks y'all. So you're going under the Knife, Karey??? You should definitely do a thread on this... but don't make the same mistakes I made after that darn Tummy Tuck LOL. I think you'll be safe, you're a good woman. I'm excited for you, though. You gonna look HOTT woman! And anyone can look like THAT with enough freaking tenacity and OCD lol. It all comes down to goals, I guess. I had an image in my head of what I wanted to look like and I made it happen. There were consequences to that, however. Dealing with cervical cancer at the moment because I took liberties with my newfound body too far.
kareyquilts 1 Posted February 12, 2008 Puddin: I hope you got your cancer early. Such a scary word. I'm so sorry. Hope you're all right, do you have to do radiation or anything? Oh, I think if you want to just have a port change it would probably cost between $800-1200. They would do it on an out patient basis, endoscopically. Maybe not a priority for you now, but definetly do-able.

Dr.JLo 1 Posted February 18, 2008 Every doc is different on this, but unfilling the band allows better control of reflux and nausea which sometimes happen after surgery. For larger cases, I do want the patients getting a few more calories to facilitate healing, so having the band open helps with this.
