Guest I AM SO HAPPY

:grouphug:To all the wonderful people that got me through this week, you were soooo right and I should not have felt like a failure.

I was down 2 more lbs and that was after a month of not paying attention to my food intake.

I told my doctor, but he also knew I was scheduled for a fill.

Really interesting the way it is done.

I went to the radiology department and the radiologist is the one who did it. First an x-ray, then had me lay on another table with the inside of my stomach on a computer screen, and he injected the needle, the table stands me upright and had me drink a bit of barium and watched it go down. Took a good length of time to get the saline exact. And we saw how dangerous it could be when he put in just a tiny bit to much. It cut off my passage way and kept the barium from going through.

So I'm a happy camper, sipping on chicken broth. Clear Liquids for a few days and slowly increase as in the beginning.

AND!!!! I came home and ordered a 3rd row center seat ticket to see Bon Jovi and Daughtrey opening at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas on April 12th! That will keep me focused for a couple of months. Seeing these guys especially in the seat I got is a dream come true!!!! :biggrin2::tt2::wub::tt1:

Good for you!! That sounds like real progress and also sounds like you've got a fill doctor that is doing things right!

BTW.......thanks for the follow-up. It gets really frustrating sometimes when people come on and post something and a lot of people take the time and express their concern and offer help.......then we never hear another word. So thanks for sharing your good news and your excitement about Bon Jovi! Wow!!

Hey Lvly--I am so-o-o-o glad it worked out for you!

I do wonder how many persons go down your road and never come back to us! We all know that we sabotaged ourselves before banding in so many ways--after 40 years of dieting, I was to the point that I would try one and give up within a week if I didn't see a pound come off.

Sure the Band can be "cheated on"--but we all KNOW what the best way is to get to that life we really really want, and I'm happy you're turning around!

Gee, I wish my surgeon had that X-ray thingy, though, instead of just giving me 1cc every six weeks and crossing our fingers! Oh well, he's just being cautious and you can't fault him for that.

Have fun at Bon Jovi--but I'm still going to be on you to get going with that exercise too, m'dear!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
