What would you do???

My guess would be the surgeon's lawyer told her NOT to see you. But I too would find a different surgeon who would hopefully accept all of your pre op stuff. I'd be interested to hear how your meeting with her goes though.....

If you are posting this question here, then you don't have confidence in her enough to go again. Confidence in the surgeon's ability is paramount to a successful recovery I believe. If you have doubts going into it, anything could happen. Definitely write this one off and request another surgeon or go and find another surgeon.

Agreed:

1) Not seeing you and explaining things to you directly is unacceptable

2) One chance is all she gets even though we can all make mistakes

3) Can she refer you to another surgeon in the practice so that your surgery can be expedited with all of your current testing/preops?

How did your meeting go yesterday afternoon? Was she apologetic or did she offer additional options?

How many times has your doc done this surgery? Your life is too valuable and there are too many doctors out there who are excellent for you to take a chance if you feel uncomfortable. Find a bariatric center of excellence. I have to drive 2 hours to get to my doc, but it's worth it because he's awesome.

She sounds like she messed up bigtime. You dont want incompetent people operating on you. This is not like buying a pair of shoes that you can return. This is your body, your life. You were lucky enough to survive the first time she messed up. Definitely change doctors and get a second opinion on any damage done. You are too precious to let someone mutilate you because they dont know what they are doing. Take care!

Okay, so here is what's going on....I was suppose to have surgery on Tues. Well...I got into the operating room and was "put under" only to be in there for a total of 15-20 min. :crying:The surgeon I had basically under estimated my torso and ended up cutting into my diaphragm and saw my lungs.:) She pulled out ASAP and sloppily stapled me up to get me out of there to get a chest X-Ray done to see what kind of damage she had done. I ended up going to ICU to be monitored. Well about 3:30 that afternoon, her office called to inform me that my surgery had been moved to next Tues. and they wanted me to call them back to confirm the time. Please keep in mind that she has yet to come in herself and check on me. She just automatically assumed that I would continue with the surgery next week and be okay with what happened. I'm so confused...I don't know what to do. I understand that surgeons are human and I took that risk going into this whole thing. In a way I don't blame her or have any hard feelings but I am really really really skeptical about having this surgery now.

Do I go ahead with it and take another risk, or do I back out now and be fat the rest of my life?????:crying::rose::crying::thumbup:

I need some help y'all....what would you do?????

beachbum - OMG, I'm so sorry for what happened to you.

I would be so hesitant to go with the same surgeon. I know it might be tempting for you, only in the respect that you'd be able to get the surgery done soon, and you'd probably have to wait longer to have it done by another surgeon. In the long run, even if you have to wait longer, you want to have a safe surgery, and I agree with the poster who said to have it done at a "bariatric center of excellence". Hospitals who have this designation have to meet certain criteria.

Best of luck to you whatever you decide to do.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
