I got my first fill on Tuesday. My Dr. put 4cc in my 10 cc band. I have no problems eating and I feel satisfied after about 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of food, but I'm hungry 2 hours later! I'm still on mushies, so I'm hoping this will change when I get on solids. My Dr. says I should only eat 3 times a day, but I'm just starving in between meals, so I've been having small Snacks, like 1/2 cup of cottage cheese with a couple of tablespoons of applesauce. I don't drink within an hour of eating, so that's not the problem. Anyone else have a similar situation?

The first thing that rings a bell is that you may not have enough solid Proteins. Cottage cheese is a mushy. Try to move to more solids first. If you are still hungry in 2 hours you may want a slight fill. 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup sounds right though. Good luck.

I had the same problem. It's hard to eat three meals a day/no Snacks when you are starving between meals. I agree with julie (above) that it makes a huge difference what your meals are. Be sure they are dense Proteins. My nutritionist clarified to me (when I complained about the no snacking) that they don't want 'mindless snacking' but if you are really truly hungry you should have a healthy snack. And cottage cheese won't keep you full for too long. Try something more substantial. And if you are past the soft food stage, adding Fiber helps, too. Like an apple or some strawberries or whatever, along with some Protein. You could have cottage cheese and strawberries or something like that. After your first fill you should be eating solid foods more than soft foods, that is how the band works best. You need the food to sit there at the top of the band for a while to feel full longer. It is also pretty probable that after only one fill you aren't restricted enough for anything to sit there for any length of time. That is how it was for me. Schedule another fill for as soon as you are allowed. (and be thankful your doctor gave you 4 ccs to start with!!! I'm jealous!!! I got 1.5 for my first fill!)

Yes, I had the same problem. It was because I was afraid to eat solids. Once I moved to more solids I was okay and could go more like 3-4 hours. I totally was where you are at. Starving 1-2 hours later. Also, I did have a slight fill of .3 put in so now I am not as hungry. If you move to solids and still feel hungry in 2 hours then you may want another fill. Good luck.

I have started to eat more solids and I can go a little longer. Still, I don't see how it's going to be possible for me to eat only 3 meals a day, which is what the doctor says I should eat. He says I should be eating about 1000 cals a day, but I can't eat 333 calories per meal. I just can't fit that much in. The only way I'm going to get that many calories in a 1/2 to 3/4 cup portion is if I drown everything in butter! Right now, I'm eating between 900-1000 cals a day, but that's because I eat 3 meals and 2 Snacks a day.

I always find that a Protein Shake satiates me for so-o-o long--especially in the early days when I was on soft foods--I would do one mid-morning and one mid-evening.

It DOES get better, trust me!:smile2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
