thin2bme 2 Posted February 7, 2008 Hi everyone, I just found out that I've finally been approved, I don't have a surgery date yet since I just talked to the insurance company this morning, but hope to have a date soon. I have a question, I've been wondering if anyone has gone to the chiropractor for an adjustment after having their band placed? I didn't know if it would be possible for the port or the band to be misplaced by having the chiropractor do his adjustments. I ask because I see a chiropractor frequently for back and hip pain. Any responses would be great, thanks.
Daisalana 33 Posted February 7, 2008 I use to go to the chiro all the time for my back & hips also. (Scoliosis, and a lopsided hip). I was taking it easy at first (6 weeks no strenuous) so I skipped on the chiro. After 2 months post-op, all my back pains were gone. All the excruciating worth going to the doc for pains, I mean. I still have pain when I sleep, but after I'm up and about, it goes away.
Wa lee 0 Posted February 7, 2008 I've been going before and after surgery (on & off). After surgery I told my chiropractor that I had the surgery, don't know if he knew what I was talking about. I haven't had any problems.
Susanne 0 Posted February 7, 2008 I go to my Chiro every 2 weeks, there is no reason why you can't go. What is your concern about going, is it because you lay stomach down?
travelgirl 3 Posted February 7, 2008 Should be fine! I had a problem with my upper back/neck, and have been adjusted several times since the first of the year.

travelgirl 3 Posted February 7, 2008 Neck Cracking Raises Stroke Risk While I respect everyone's right to their own opinion, the original poster's question was not about the merits of chiropractic care. It was about whether it is safe to have spinal manipulation after banding. Which is perfectly fine.
RainyDay 0 Posted February 8, 2008 My chiropractor said she has a couple banded clients. I think if you give yourself a few days to heal you should be OK.
citygirl4616 2 Posted February 8, 2008 I was getting adjustments every 5-6 weeks pre-surgery. I am approaching 4 weeks post-op, and haven't had an adjustment yet, just due to my port area still being a little tender. I think I am going to wait another 2 weeks, and start up with my adjustments at 6 weeks post-op. BTW - since my surgery I have lost 18 pounds, and feel the strain on my neck and lower back has slightly improved. I wonder if it could be from the weight loss? thin2bme 2 Posted February 8, 2008 Thank you all for answering my question about the chiropractor, I feel much better knowing that I can still get my adjustments when needed. I will probably wait 6 weeks like most of you have indicated and with any luck some weight loss will help the situation. I hope to be a bandster soon :tongue2:
