Should I wait and see? please advise

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I had a fill on Mon - 4 days ago and was getting liquids down albeit very slowly - then this morning I pb'ed on some coffee - have been sipping milk since and it's going down - gurgling all the way - I have little burps as it's going through the band.

My question is - will this ease after a week or two? My last fill caused swelling but I could drink OK. I've also read that fills can take 2 weeks to kick in - could I get even tighter?

Was thinking of waiting two weeks then if still like this getting an unfill. What do you advise?

Thanks for reading.

Yvonne

I think that it could go either way for you...tighter or looser. It just depends on your body...although to me you sound to tight. A slight unfill, may do wonders!

I was pretty tight after my last fill and I had to sip Water and was really gurgling. I was afraid I would need an unfill but it loosened up after a couple of days. I did not PB during that time. I hope it loosens up for you soon. If you can't get in enough liquids than definitely get an unfill. You don't want to get dehydrated.

Good luck!

I had a fill on Friday and was also close to getting an unfill. Something I discovered was that hot tea would go down easier than cold Water and I didn't burp or PB nearly as much. So I thought it was probably a temperature thing and tried sticking with only hot fluids. But then the cream Soups were having the same effect, so I cut back further and kept with clear hot fluids. And it seemed to have got me through the worst of the tightness.

This was different to the last tight fill I had. And if I've learned anything on my journey so far, it's that things are always changing. What may have worked to help me get through the tougher times of the first fill, didn't work for the second, and changed again with this third. You just have to try and find that magic formula for yourself each time something changes.

Thanks for taking the time to post some advice girls.

Since the pb this morning I've been ok and liquids are going down better - what a relief - so will wait a while longer and see how it goes. There is swelling there cos I can feel discomfort when Fluid is passing through - so hopefully things will improve.

The swelling didn't go down - waited a week - got an unfill yesterday and it makes the world of difference - sweet relief to be able to drink again.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
