Last Supper...

Recommended Posts

I'm scheduled to be banded on Friday March 18, this Wednesday is my Pre-Op Seminar and I know that a few weeks before surgery I start my Pre-Op food plan. I have been eating so much lately, trying to get in that last supper. This morning I am so stuff I can't even move, now I've had enough! Has anyone else done this?

Yup Corgi... I didn't have to do a pre-op diet... so I stuffed myself right up to the day before surgery... I guess I was worried I'd not be able to eat ever again...lol. Truth of the matter is... I still eat most of the foods I ate before... and I can even stuff myself... it just happens on a few bites of food instead of a few plates of food. Good luck with your journey to bandland!

I think most of us have done the same thing. Don't worry, you will be able to eat most of your favorite things after banding. I can still eat most things, however just chose to not eat a few things. Just remember what you put on now, you will have to take off later!

You betcha -- August was one big "bon voyage to food" party, as if I'd never see lasagna again. I ate barbecued ribs the night before I was banded. Just before my surgery I wrote a post similar to yours and lots of people assured me that they had done the same thing. You're not alone! Just remember, once you get past the initial liquid and mushy phases after you get your band, you'll still be able to eat most foods.

By the way, do you have a Corgi dog? They are cool little guys!

Heck ya almost every day up until surgery I ate till I was stuffed. You would of thought food was going out of style. My favorite was an Ultimate sub combo from Publix with the soda, chips and macaroni salad. I had this meal at least once or twice a month. I thought I would miss that meal the most and come to think of it this is probley the second time I have thought of it since I was banded in August of 2004.

I know I can no longer eat bread or rolls, but it does not bother me in the least and I am shocked I feel this way because my whole life I have eaten them. I can eat the insides of a sandwich, but for me to finish a whole sub these days will take me several days. I also don't miss the soda. The only time I miss carbonation is when I am out and a beer is cheaper than a glass of wine.

Corgi..I did the exact samething LOL

I ate carnitas, rice & bean andtortillas up until midnight the night before my surgery. My Dr. did not require any pre op diet so I took full advantage of the "Last Supper" . You are not alone :)

Isn't it funny that we think we're going to starve to death? A bad gall bladder kept me honest before banding. But I remember thinking I was going to miss out on so many foods. Now I enjoy foods so much more because I (usually) make healthy, satisfying choices. There really is "life after banding!"

Well

I had it PLANNED to eat all month long, but then I was told I HAD TO LOSE 40 to 60 pounds before I came or they wouldnt do the surgey.

I had less than a month and a half to lose 40 pounds!!!!

Well.. it was HELL.. All I wanted to do was eat yummy food.

I lost the weight, and when I knew I had lost the weight and it would be OK even if I gained a few pounds back, I decided I could have a "last meal"

I took my family to Chillis.. (it cost over 145$!!!)

I had chicken fajitas with 5 big lime shrimp. I ate two of my daughters baby back ribs, I shared an onion Blossem with 4 others, I had three refills of strawberry lemonaid and I ate about 5 bites of my sons Molten chocolate cake dessert. YUM YUM.

BUT.. then.. Once I was in Mexico at my pre-op she told me to go ahead and have dinner, just dont binge or it will slow the healing process..(I had thought I couldnt eat anything the night before surgery)

So it was a nice surprise that I could have my second 'last meal'

It was actually only like 2pm..... and me and my sister ate the resturant in the hotel, it was a buffett.

So.. I had salad and pineapple (i had lost the weight on a low carb diet, i had soooooooo missed fruit!!!) and some yummy stuff...

Then around 11pm... we got hungry again and ordered a pizza through room service. This is my third 'last meal' LOL

I had two slices of hawiann pizza (mexico has the BEST pizza! its made with different sauce and different crust than i ever seen and it had fresh pineapple and cherries on it. I had a mile too (milk is my favorite food)

The food I miss right now the most and wish I could have is pizza.

From reading here it doesnt sound like we are gonna be able to handle Pizza Crust ever again! lol

Did I ever! I think we all do that, it is a mental thing where you know you you are giving up a lot of your favorite foods in the world and eat like there is no tomorrow! Don't feel bad for doing that, it is a normal reaction of us food addicts. I have been postop for right over one year with second surgery for slipped band since 3 weeks ago and would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

You will miss certain foods and I actually went through mourning over some of the foods I can't have any more (diet cokes especially!) any carbonated drinks and pastas and breads! But the good Lord above knew I did not need these things and now I have adjusted and accepted the foods I cannot have and love my band! I have lost 140 pounds in a years' time and have about 80 more pounds to go.

So don't feel gullty for enjoying your last supper. Good luck on your journey to a healthy fun life!

Me too! I decided to have the op before Christmas but didn't get into full on mourning until about a month before surgery. I did basically one of everything I loved - pizza, chinese, sushi - even bought a dozen doughnut but was so disgusted with myself I threw half of them away after a couple of days.

The night before surgery I went for an early supper 6pm, at a really nice restaurant and had their burger and chips. It was delicious but it really stayed with me and I felt full right through to lunch the next day. I was really worried that something would go wrong in the surgery which was scheduled at 1.30pm. Fortunately everything went fine.

My regret was that I didn't get to do the gastronomic meal with my friend at this really fancy restaurant. He was ill!

Having said all that, I do kind of regret it all as I know I put on about 8-10lbs all of which I now have to take off. But, i'll never forget how good that pizza tasted!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
