I have a friend who is taking a marketing class and she asked me if I could give her some feed back on referrals.

How many people have you referred to the lap-band?

How many people have actually had the surgery?

It doesn't have to be exact just a round about #.

I can't tell you how many I have referred, lots, but I can tell you that at least 2 have had the band due to my referrals.

Thanks for your help! I thought this would be fun.

I've referred... 20 or so.

At least 6 or 7 have completed the surgery, at least 3 are in the paperwork phase, and at least 4 others are self-pays waiting on tax refunds before they proceed with the paperwork.

So if those in the prep phases go through, that would be about 13/20. Not bad!

I think we should make a deal with our surgeons. 20 confirmed referrals = free PS.

One person has a band because they saw my success, another is currently in the initial approval stages.

I haven't told many people at all about my band. These two people who I know struggle(d) with their weight asked me what my secret was, so I swore them to secrecy and told them. They both followed up with my surgeon to make appointments within days.

-0- for me (which wasn't a poll option)

I'm scared someone would get the band and fail or have a complication … then it would feel like my fault.

Kinda the same way I don't ever recommend anyone I know personally for jobs at my company … afraid they will screw up and it will be my fault for hiring them. :)

Candle, You've done so well. Don't you want to share your positive feedback to help others?

I totally agree with you about the job thing.

Oh yeah! I'm starting to talk pretty openly about my band and success but I've never recommended or inspired anyone have the surgery. (as far as I know)

I'm less than 6 months out though ... maybe things will change?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
