Don't worry, you will! I am two days post op and really feeling pretty well! I'm still taking it very easy as I don't want to over do it and push myself but I've stopped taking the hard drugs and switched to liquid tylenol for the general soreness, Gas-x for when I'm a little too urpy, took a shower and washed my hair, put on regular clothes and feeling generally human again.

So it's all good. You will do great too!!!!! If you want more details just click on the link in my signature that goes to my blog on Obesity Help.

Good luck!

I had to do that before my surgery as well. I avoided the complication stories as much as possible especially the serious ones. Others, such as pain in shoulders, or gas, or other things I wanted to know about and be prepared for. The serious complication stories were just making me too nervous and wondering what the hell I was doing! The nerves really kicked in about two days before for me. I told my husband that I felt like I had just gotten on a roller coaster ride, had strapped myself in and was getting ready for it to start moving. Waiting for that "lurch" that was going to take me to unpredictable places. It's a pretty good analogy and I stayed that way until they wheeled me into the OR and I shifted my fat butt onto the operating table! LOL It will seem sort of surreal, you will be short tempered and a little withdrawn and introspective, but you will wake up in recovery all sleepy and they will make sure you are comfortable. If you are experiencing pain or nausea, make sure they know. They will give you additional medication to make sure you are feeling okay. That is what they are there for.

It's really going to be okay.

My surgery is Friday also and I too am looking for all the positive stories on the board. I have read the complications threads and don't want to know anymore about that for the next week. For now I am sticking with the food threads so I have some recipes for post op and threads like this one that tell me what to expect.

Karen, I'm soooo glad to read how well you are doing. I thank you especially for writing about you experience on the day of surgery and forward. You have given me the hope that mine can be that good also.

Good luck to you as you move forward to you goal weight.

Hey, I'm with you both, I'm avoiding the horror stories because they just mess with my mind. The positive stories are the ones I'm concentrating on until Friday when I have my surgery. It's going to be a good day!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
